Entry way advice
Comments (6)@dkin0577, If the dark wallpaper works for you then go for it but the picture you have provided is a much larger area!!! We're all here to help with your ideas but ultimately it has to work for you. I love your secretaire and only wish I had such a lovely piece of furniture with sentimental value. Unfortunately, my parents never had the money, only buying what would work. Don't let anyone talk you into "outing" it but I do agree with Joshua to remove the lamp and photo, let this piece of furniture shine!!! Perhaps a wall light over the secretaire would look stunning. Most important thing from my point of view, is that the area looks tiny, so don't fall into the trap of over filling it, as that alone will detract from the very piece of furniture you are trying to highlight. Could be too that you could highlight this secretaire in some other part of the home and perhaps put a hall stand with a mirror in that area instead but on the other wall ?? Good luck again. Comments (19)Purple is such a dominant colour. I love the idea that your designing your own room. Let's start with your rug, you bought it because you love it! Next, I think it's a good choice with white bed. They should be the things you need to pop in the room. If you now paint purple walls, they will loose there pop. I have added a photo of a chevron pattern because I think you now need to tone the purple down and add colour to make an impact. Eg cushions, art lamps. I know you said you don't like greys but greys will help your favourite things stand out. I would use a colour called Dulux Grand Piano. ( yes...it's a grey) but hey, it'll work to make your fav colours pop. Your purple rug, the Chevron bedspread, you can the add purple lime green and hot pink accessories ( whatever you love) Great artwork with a white frame. By toning down the wall colour and bedspread you can really highlight all the things you love. Good luck, have fun and keep attacking....See MoreHelp improve front landscape/entrance!
Comments (13)Keep an eye on your bromeliads. Now that the tree has gone, they might not like so much sun and will need to be moved. Maybe under your front window? The stone edging screams 80's, I agree with removing it or growing something to cascade over the top. Stump removal can be expensive. Maybe attack the multiple stump clump with shovels and an axe to get it below ground level. You could put a birdbath or sculpture on top of the large stump? Even a large decorative pot? Clumping bamboos grow quickly and could add some softness. I like the previous suggestion of grasses too. Good luck with it....See Morewhich way to have the stairs
Comments (27)I think both plans make the stairs too dominant and take away from look of house original stairs actually look better and suit house Will you use decking? Maybe modernise railing and look at door and window treatments...See MoreKatrina
