Hi Kris, I currently have a painting that highlights the green and warm greys that are in your room. I think it would go nicely and complement the stone feel of the lamps too! Alternatively if you like the harder finish you could go for a bold black and minimalist white line work piece with a muted toned feature colour. Tsk tsk... Art at the least is something which resonates with you, for any reason, great Art is a bit different..... Buy a prepared canvas and some colours you like and have at it. Then hang it up on the wall.... I would suggest a large horizontal canvas close to the width of the sofa for that wall.

This is a moodboard I did for our recent Reno with pics of the existing art and mirror we wanted to incorporate with new paint and furniture. The artist proof titled ‘Oh how the Mighty have Fallen’ is by a friend of ours and the mirror is an old gold tone ikea number that my husband kindly painted silver for me and gave an antique finish. The mirror goes over the buffet and the art goes on the opposite wall. I also used colours from the painting in my rug and accessories in the adjacent family room.

Absolutely it will work. And you should work around the mural. It’s part of the property attraction. I would keep everything else pared back. The bricks are great. And for everything else I’d have a colour palette of black/white and wood. Some simple colour in vintage ethnic rugs and cushions. I’d also aim for some bold street style art in the rooms where you can’t see the mural for balance. Don’t forget to declutter and you’ll need some joinery under the stairs for that area to function.
