Comments (6)hi Jonathan I think you have a great space here with a lot of potential. sure it may cost a little but will only increase the value of your house A nice garden and clean up at the entry will brighten your mood when entering or leaving the house With the Australian lifestyle of always being outside levelling the big area and returfing or paving boarded by a nice garden screening of some old walls as well as feature plants will provide you with a space you and your friends will be able to enjoy. Weather your after a formal garden with some nice boxed hedges or a tropical garden could be more appropriate living by the beach. feel free to contact me for advice on suitable plants once you have worked out the theme your after....See MoreExterior paint colour and landscaping design advice needed!
Comments (7)Your house is brand brand new and so yes it does look a bit stark, but don't rush to repaint! Once you have added shrubs and it has settled in it will look really lovely. Put a little money into landscaping and it will look lovely. It just needs time to settle into the landscape. Definately don't paint it grey! That is not a look that works north of sydney in my opinion! It will look grim in the qld sunshine I think. Be patient, it won't take long for new plants to grow up in QLD. What comes to mind is your house is like a bride in a white dress... its the bouquet of flowers that really make her look beautiful. Try looking at bridal magazines for some inspiration for what garden style you like. 2 approaches I would try. Tropical foliage and tropical colour with bright gingers, lipstick palms, cordylines etc.. There are plenty of species that will do fine in the subtropics. Or the second and perhaps what I would favour for myself is to create an avenue of colourful flowering trees along the driveway like jacaranda, frangipani, flame tree, or perhaps one spreading poinciana out front in the middle of the yard if there is space. If you want some real wow factor employ a landscape gardener to give you something really unique, a great feature design. Or for a simpler approach just go to the nursery and pick what you like the look of. The house will look great with any sort of garden to soften the edges....See Morefacade of north west facing house we are renovating
Comments (14)Dulux Charcoal on the timber and also paint the orange tiles under the window on the timber side. Too many orange stripes, the other two match so I'd leave them. Paint windows and trim Whisper white, paint the top gutter against the roof charcoal and the trim under in Whisper white. Also paint the door step in charcoal. Like your house, all the different textures just need to compliment each other. I'm building mid century design now, I'm using all different textures too....See MoreGarden landscape advice
Comments (0)Need to cover our pool filter from the weather and also looking to hide the colorbond fence. Also our Queensland blue lawn looks great for 4 months of the year, but as soon as it doesn’t get enough sun (due to shade from the fence), we end up with a sandpit. Dont want synthetic replacement (have young children and a dog). We live in Perth. Any suggestions please? TIA...See Moregingermeggs
