Find a picture of an ocean scene that you are drawn to and print that out and use it as inspiration. See example here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/101542166573196260/ Beach themes tend to be lighter, but you can work with your darker furniture and your current curtains. Consider adding colors like whites (colors of shells), tans (sand color), blues (aqua like sea or light like the sky). Also you can create the FEEL of the beach without using shells and shell prints. See here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/389702173979896669/ and refer back to your inspiration picture for color and texture ideas. Consider working with what you have for now. Adding cushion covers, plants and flowers. Above, Sian has provided some good images for inspiration. Also see this one for dinning chairs with white covers: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/403001866625446214/ or painting chairs white: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/24629129187661902/ Artwork: lower your current artwork so they are somewhere between 57 and 63 inches on center try it out and see what feels best for you. Lastly, I am not sure how your usually use your living space, but consider rearranging your furniture. Pulling it away from the walls and create conversational setting. You can put your entertainment center against a wall and open up access to your kitchen bar and get bar stools (in white or wicker or a fun color). Hope this helps. Have fun with your space! be wonderful...See MoreNeed help with lounge room
Comments (6)Go neutral. I don't know your style but here are some ideas. Buy some big wide striped wallpaper and attach it to the wall behind the sofa. You Can either choose horisontal stripes or vertikal stripes. If you can't find the right wall paper you Can paint the wall in two different color. big wall paper coved canvases makes a room appear bigger. If you dont want the paint the wall. This will make the room mor cohisive. Over the sofa you Can hang a round mirror to make the room more cozy. Some Choose some big transperant lamps. To the exterior go brown. Check out IKEA website. Play around whit Some bright pattened pillow - maybe matching to the wallpaper. You Can allways Continue to redecorate with pillows, curtains, and maybe buy an ottoman for mor seating. Comments (1)Sorry for the seemingly vague question, we're moving soon and have a blank slate to start from. The carpet will go and most likely be replaced with floorboards, coffee or lighter bamboo floorboards. The first pic if as you enter, and the 2nd is the rest of the living or what will be the formal lounge. I'd like to keep a neutral palette and then accessorize in colors. I can't say I love the staircase much, almost feel like painting the wood..but what I'm looking for I suppose is where /what kind of lounge styles would suit this space. I'll post some additional photos of styles I like. Any help or ideas will be much appreciated:)...See MoreNeed help for my lounge room
Comments (12)It's easier to comment on suitable chair fabric after seeing the exact style of the other furniture items you decide to buy Ange, as there are so many styles of 'industrial' to choose from. If you like the fabric on your sofa cushions, you could always try to find some old chair/s at auction or Op-shop and have them re-covered in a similar material. That may be relatively cheaper than buying new. You may find your Kilim rugs at an auction too....See MoreLouieT
