Hello lisamyland, if you start adding photos from Houzz to your idea books that will help you to identify your style. It will also help other Houzzers to help you. For now if you add a piece of art above the bed that will become the focal point between the 2 windows and a reference point for colours to add to the bed etc. Below is just an example from many in the Houzz products you can search or maybe you have something in mind.

The size should be in proportion to the bed width and space. Try a piece of cardboard on the wall roughly an equal distance from the top of the bedhead and to each side framing of the windows so rectangle approximately 1000-1200 mm wide by 600-800 high.

If it is a mirror then what will it reflect?

You could continue the timber theme to the bedside lamps with lamp shades in a plain or pattern fabric depending on the art. A throw and casual furniture can add the colour if you choose neutral/abstract art.

Black, taupe (which you already have there) and white look great together as well as some silver/grey - so perhaps black scatter cushions and throw over the base of the bed and some shiny silver accessories like photo frames, candles holders and chrome based lamps. Otherwise If you want brighter, then turquoise would look good...

What aspect is the bedroom? If it's North or West use cooler colour, if it's South or East warmer. If you add some artwork above the bed be a little careful as the bed head is quite high. Work out your pallet and start from there.

What colour do you really like? This is probably a starting point in being able to help you in the best way.

Why not have two pictures to balance the two windows. I'd also add cushions and a throw in colours that pick up the artwork you choose. Maybe fairly plain bedside lamps as they will be in fornt of the windows.

I originally painted my bedroom teal which I loved but ultimately decided to wallpaper the room & wow it just took it to the next level its soooo luxurious I absolutely love it! I prefer a dark bedroom that feels like a cocoon so think about not only how you would like the room to look but also how you would like it to feel. Choose colors that make you smile I always do this as im very emotionally affected by color that way you will find every time you walk into the room it makes you feel happy and really thats exactly what a well designed room should always do :) above all have fun best of luck and would love to see pics of your finished room

That is nice colouring choice to get a calm restful room. What would look great on that wall behind your bed would be a nice wallpaper like this picture:

OK - I'm a beginner here on Houzz so my opinion isn't worth a lot but here it is: the room is a bit bland and lacking in character. I think you have to find some pieces you really love to bring it alive. All the suggestions are good for widening your horizons, but ultimately, you need to find things that matter to you, because it's your home and not a magazine photoshoot.

That said, if it were me, I'd throw a couple of small, colorful rugs down, and put either one large painting or three smaller ones over the bed - not in a line but at different heights - to break up the binary look. I'd also put something on the wall above the heater. Then, play around with a few cushions and maybe a quilt that picks up some of the colours in your artwork.

Cream with warm terracotta accents is a fav of mine or warm white and duck egg blue is another fav depending on what kind of a climate you live in.

Some other options to add interest are to layer a rug over the carpet so it is under back legs of bed them extends into room. And add a low upholstered bench at the foot of bed.

If you prefer smaller artwork or prints, I think non-bulky black frames would work as the windows are black.

The bedroom looks like it has a very good symmetry. You'd probably heard of her but try searching for Rebecca Robeson on YouTube. She's an interior designer based in San Diego and a lot of her videos so talk about playing to the strengths to bedroom setups like yours.
