What would you do with this blank space in the bedroom?
Comments (17)Emily, with being a renter, I'd definitely check Pinterest for temporary solutions. I've seen DIYs where you can starch fabric to walls with an iron. Also try temporary wall paper/decals, but I'd test a small area first. Cabinet makers or even yourself would be able to create a flush vanity without attaching it to the wall. Plywood, especially hoop pine, has received a lot of traction. It really gives a clean, organic look that you could have custom cut to fit in the area. You could also use it on the wall – it could be stained, left natural, or painted for a feature. Have a look at EchoPanel. It is a decorative, acoustic pinboard that would add a splash of color/design. If it is above your vanity, you could pin pictures, inspirations, etc....See MoreOur verandah is a blank canvas......what to do?
Comments (17)The cane furniture will really look nice in your verandah. As for plants, jump online and browse for some hardy plants on the Aussie websites. They are a wealth of information and if you do have a large planter box or pot make sure you put it on wheels. That way you can take your plants in and out of the house. Also put a base under the pot/planter so it catches the water and does not ruin your nice floor. You can pick these from a garden store in your area. Good luck! :) btw hope you don't mind me your spelling error "taught" should be "taut", I really hope folks correct my spelling too! cheers....See MoreWhat to do with wall space above vanity?
Comments (23)I am not the best person to comment on lights but would a few downlights be the go or one of those integrated heat/fan/light things be best in centre. Also a lot of people have task lighting......so lights just above the mirror for makeup etc. Personally too bright lighting while doing makeup sends me into a spin as I look like i have about a month to live! I hadn't thought of approvals for my proposed window - so thanks for that. Must keep that in mind. My bathroom is very hidden and looks nowhere in particular. It is all looking good. On another note my friend got a heated towel rail and much as I hate wasting power it is fab. Our towels seems to stay dampish in uninsulated BV '60 box in Melbourne. Also i would have a look in bathroom showrooms for some ideas too if you have any handy. Or buy a bathroom specialty magazine. It is going to be so nice this bathroom. What tiles etc?...See MoreWhat to do with the space next to the alfresco area?
Comments (13)Be a bit careful before replacing the outdoor furniture with expensive items - thieves often have a first go, then come back a few weeks later knowing that they'll get another haul with this second haul being new! (low lives!). Think about putting up security signage as a deterrent- unfortunately house showings are prime time for thieves to scope out a home. If potential buyers ask about security your agents says "I'm not sure, there's signage...". I'd go shopping for second hand table and chairs that you can fix up cheaply (a coat of paint/stain is easy) or even some el cheapo trestles from the local hardware store and then jazz it up with coloured runners/placemats and outdoor plates/glasses when you're doing your open house - the buyers need a narration that they can insert themselves into easily - remembering that a lot of home buys have 30 minutes allocated to see your property and that's not enough time for them to be "creatively visioning their life in your home". I'd also put some large pots with seasonal colour and invest in some LED curtain lighting on hooks that they see can be put up/pulled down (for Christmas/parties) - it'll give buyers a lifestyle image in which they can see themselves entertaining family and friends. If you can borrow an outdoor umbrella for the seating area and some outdoor beanbags for by the pool you'll be on a winner that you can easily pack up and not have spent a fortune on....See Moreka5en
