Well, maybe you can look at flowers without sneezing, but geez, being a North American, I've had some very interesting experiences with Australian bugs and plants. Never had any allergies at all in Canada or anywhere else; come to Australia, and I seem to be sensitive to quite an amazing range of things. I'm noticing that, as time passes, the range of sensitivities is narrowing (I no longer break out in blisters from sand flies) but I still have to take antihistamines for a week or so at certain times of year to get past the pollen season.

Well, as I say, my sensitivities seem to be declining the longer I live here. I find a few days of antihistamines usually does it for me. I don't have asthma so it's less an allergy than a sensitivity for me. And this year, having moved from rural NSW to semi-urban Vic, I seem to have missed the worst of it. So far. .....

That sounds logical to me.

I will definitely try that little remedy . It can't hurt!

We just got some of those tiny fungus too this week. Must be that the soil is *finally* moist enough....

The strange weather has confused my garden - my flame tree has some flowers! At the same time my trident maples are starting to get their winter foliage! Some azaleas and camellias are starting to flower as well.

This small gum tree/mallee is flowering in my garden right now. I planted it several years ago, but have no idea what it actually is. Can anyone help - I'm in WA? The scent of those flowers is like dipping your head into a huge bowl of freshly crushed berries, just amazing! The bugs are all over it, the little bud cups are full of nectar.

@fiona_ab - I learnt recently that eating local raw honey is a great way to immunise yourself against hayfever and irritations caused by local pollens. Next time you see a Honey for sale sign drop in and grab some, it may help and will taste better than any store bought honey.

The banksias are loaded with flowers, pollen and bugs at the moment. I counted 15 creatures in this close-up.

Sometimes it's what happens after the banksia finishes flowering that is most stunning.

Speaking of honey, why are bees constantly falling off my (currently flowering) gums onto the ground then crawling around incapacitated until they get attacked by ants? This is an ongoing phenomenon.

Thanks 7weed1, it's a simple case of switch to macro setting, take 15 pictures of each thing and hope there's one decent one where you didn't move the camera :-)

Hilde Gard, apparently bees can get intoxicated by fermenting nectar and become incapacitated and unable to return to their hive. You may have bees which have developed a liking for intoxicating substances (bees aren't as industrious and straight-laced as we think they are!!).

I am going to try to attach some pictures of my flowers again, it was taking forever yesterday.

So, I've also got some flowers. That purple thing that someone named for me up above , and the lavenders have resumed flowering a lot since I cut them back , ditto the roses, the anemones are going well, a rhododendron that used to flower in spring is coming out this Autumn ???! Daisies are happening, the geronimos are finishing up. Gazanias are still going, correas.

I have flowers blooming at the same time as my deciduous trees are losing their leaves - this seems a very strange season. My rain lillies are still flowering after last weekend's rain, I have roses, and cyclamen. I had a very dramatic sunrise , too, before the cold change hits us.

We have a red crepe myrtle blooming. I'm in Savannah , Ga. U.S.

My daffodils are out. My daughter has been taking photos of them and manipulating them. Bet you've never seen a blue daffodil!

So pretty..what are the pink ones with the spiky leaves?

Hi, Kathy. They are Ixia bulbs. We put them in a few years ago and left them, they've multiplied. We are in a temperate climate. Acerules is my daughter, she's working on her photographs. These were really snaps on a windy day.

Does anyone else see pics as blurry? They're not when you click on them. Seems to happen a bit on Hz.

Hi Trib photos clear when clicked on ..all I have got are my ping daisies and one scraggly lavender..I need to lift my game this year my garden has never been so sad. Orchids have been good but at end now

My other bush of Rhodys, taken today, I'm on top of the steps, it's about 6 ft. I've cut them back each year, they were huge when I moved in. Not good to have huge bushes near the house if there's a bushfire.

The first bush has finished flowering. It's a hotter pink.
