Paint front door black??
Comments (17)mrjudsonjames - Hardware is from Tradco and they sell through retailers, not direct. You can find them online and they can direct you to where you can look at their products. The cheapest retailer I found was Schotts Emporium. Just before doing my external doors, I changed all the internal doors and kept the existing chrome hardware except for new hinges. This was even though I didn't like them, but I was reluctant to add the expense. Now liking this new hardware on my external doors, I'm exploring getting the same handle on a rose plate and then powder coating my hinges! purplewombat - Thank you for the Bunnings link and the photos you've done! That visual is perfect. I can't quite figure out how to use it myself so might have to give them a call. If you've got any tips that would be great. I wouldn't be adverse to red, but with the green roof and guttering I feel it would be too Christmassy....See MoreNew paint and carpet colour with internal sandstock bricks?
Comments (16)Here are the samples, although the camera doesn't really show the colour in it's true form. First up, Ball & Twine. And this is Warm Bisque. It was nice, but too cool for me. And this is Sisal, the wrong colour I bought by accident. I love the colour though, just not here. I am a little concerned that the Ball & Twine was throwing some green (although I love green), but I really love it in the rest of the house. We have those late 1990’s terracotta coloured tiles in the back room to consider as well. that room will have a terracotta, stone, charcoal look, I think, when we are done. Anyway, comments on the samples?...See MoreFeedback on internal paint please
Comments (8)Yes bigreader, his note said he has to return to re-sand all the skirting & then repaint them (which took him a full day to paint). He's also closed doors on wet door frames so when I opened them, paint has torn off in the process. He is just a disaster...See MoreWhat color to paint my front door?????
Comments (13)The photo you have given is of a single unassuming grey door in a red wall with white or a light grout. There are no distinguishing features whatsoever. It says to me... "I don't want visitors. I don't want to be found. Go away. Don't come any closer!" If this is truly your front door [and I have no reason to doubt it], Nitegalaxy, you are in big trouble if you think a coat of paint is all that is required to bring visitors in. If paint is all you can afford, then if it were me, I'd perhaps stick with the grey. It wouldn't be my first choice but at least it does stand out from the red. You could try a white door - boring I know - but the red brick is so dominant that it makes introducing colours other than greys and whites all that much tougher. Instead, I think I'd widen your train of thought a little more. Can you lead visitors to the door by introducing colourful plantings either side of the footpath? Frame either side of the door with hanging plants. If plants aren't your thing, try some art works. An arty neighbour of mine, hung a large resin coated picture of flowers on her front wall to help visitors to find her front door. It looked wonderful and was quite unique. Is it possible to build a pergola or a canopy over the door to help define the space more. Funky artworks or oversized bright pots could also work. If money is not a problem there is another option. Completely replace your front door. There are some wonderful glass options on the market with bright scenes sandwiched between the layers. too many for me to mention here but look on line. Good luck...See More- 9 years ago
