I would suggest hanging a large moroccan woven fabric or mat, just use a length of dowel along the top edge, and hang it up. It would add great texture and also a casual feel to the room. Dress up the couch with a bunch of patterned cushions and a bolster moroccan style. OK, I have lots of ideas with that brief; Starting with the floor, I think a big cosy knitted/plaited style rug like this one would set the tone. From there I think a round coffee table (maybe in a dark timber not unlike your kitchen to keep the colour story working between the spaces) to help with the movement of people within the space and finally I would repeat a modular sofa to maintain the number of seats you require. I'd consider the sofa in a donkey brown (grey/brown). I would replace the side table with a round side table that is in a new material (metal or ceramic) but same sort of colours to layer up the textures. Cushions on the sofa should then be various textures but continuing the same colours. The entertainment unit I would then select something that is textural like this. I would have a big piece of timber artwork or installation over the sofa something like these . Have fun with the space. Sophie

Hi Tania, Congratulations on getting this far, It can be so baffling to take a project on by yourself, furnishings and design. I believe a monochromatic colour scheme is always interesting when pairing black, greys and whites with different textures. Black is one of the few colours that actually matches with everything, It is the most versatile of colours. Any style, including scandinavian, industrial contemporary or mid-century modern can incorporate black into the colour scheme so whatever style you choose will work fantastic and timelessly. How many art print to hang above the couch or bed? depending on the size of the works you choose, one in a landscape layout above the bed of a series of three may work equally as well. Q3.
