What about an angled deck running the boards on the diagonal to a straight corner on the fence side with two tall posts next to the fence to support a feature wall (water feature, climbing plant, garden art, light etc. Then widen it at the house side to the left and right & plant the angles with taller plants against the fence & lower feature plants towards the house.

It's very hard to decide...Because I love those warm timber tones I am influenced by the look of the house the deck is attached to; but I chose the Courtyard one in the end, probably because I liked the landscaping... If you weren't going to have the rocks and garden around the edges, then I would choose the Courtyard but with the offset steps of #4...

looks like it hasn't been properly maintained during it's lifetime and now needs to be stripped back and recoated...check with your local paint specialists to recommend a new coating to suit the specific conditions and get ready for some sanding but the mitred corner looks gorgeous and it will be worth all the effort should restore the deck to it's original glory but the other, more expensive, option would be to replace the timber with one of the composite boards that don't need the ongoing maintenance
