Kitchen Ovens

Does anyone have a combine steam and convection oven? Do you need a normal oven as well? Could you recommend a brand? I need a full size one.

Hi, I have a Miele DGC 6805 combi steam oven for my only oven in the kitchen (excluding microwave). It is a compact size 45cm tall. It is a great unit, highly recommended. We didn't get another pyro oven to go with it due to wanting to have more storage space in the kitchen, and outdoor grill was just a few steps away. If all of your cooking fits within a compact 45cm model, you don't need another bigger oven. It was between Miele and VZug before I chose Miele 6805 as my only oven because Vzug 45cm model does not have a grill.

If you are looking for a tall model, 60cm one. Miele has DGC 6660 and VZug has Combair-Steam SL which is just a combi steam oven and Combo-Steam MSLQ which is a combi steam microwave oven all in one. Between these three, you don't need another oven, unless you really cook a lot.

1/ at the old place we had similar configuration to your drawing..the cooktop where that is and 2 slim windows on either side. 2/ wash up like drawing is preferred as can talk or watch TV. So sink inside 3/ wall oven and microwave on top at end below is photo of our old kitchen

Oven, stove in corner of kitchen bench

I want to do the same to free up a ‘stretch’ of bench space, rather than having only small work areas in the corner and ends of our small L shape. I am talking stove top only as oven will be in a tower with microwave. That means the cupboard underneath can utilise the whole space, albeit with relatively small door (430mm). We would have to offset the range hood on the adjacent wall due to window position but have been advised the modern hoods are powerful enough to extract steam without necessarily being positioned absolutely over the hot plates.

This is an Australian site, we work in centimetres. So 30" is 66cm,and 36" is 90cm. Assuming the oven is on the 18ft side, then I would definitely go 36". Do you get a 24" oven or 60cm oven where you are? You could install two 24" ovens. Then you only need to heat up a small oven for everyday use, and you have the option to run both ovens when cooking for a crowd. All the best.
