Need help selecting paint colours for back yard/deck area
Comments (6)Thanks all for the suggestions! White ceiling really makes sense thanks Helen. I would not have thought to do that but as i sat out there over the weekend it makes perfect sense. At this stage I'll stick to repainting the deck as well due to the cost but long term I'll definitely be looking at sanding or replacing the timbers of the deck. With all the dark colours it really does have an oppressive feeling and i almost feel like i need to hunch over as i walk through so lightening up the colour scheme is definitely the way to go. And yes Angela those blind will be going :)...See MoreNew pool, deck, backyard help please??
Comments (5)Nice pool, but a shame that your neighbours can see you through the fence, and therefore, you get no privacy. If you were wanting privacy of some kind, bamboo, tikka plant or even lovely conifers will look quite nice, also as a backdrop to your pool area. I would also place a beautiful urn or two strategically near the pool, to add character and colour. I would finally add an order of large stones for good effect....See MoreHELP! Backyard Landscaping
Comments (16)Consulting a Landscape Architect or designer is going to be time and money well spent. Taking in the location and aspect of the yard. What you and your family want and how you want to use the space for, will help in creating the design. A good landscape designer can be found through you local landscape industry association and will be able to provide a cost estimate to construct the project. Then if you are going to get contractors to quote the work you will be getting quotes based upon the same brief and not random impressions based upon verbal interpretations which can only confuse your decisions. If your going to do this project your self then ask your designer how they would program the works and how to stage construction. Best of luck. Hope to see the finished job !!...See MoreBackyard/deck neighbour privacy screening
Comments (5)You have lots of posts Belinda! Thinking about this one and the one about lillypilly along the fence line, perhaps you could move the figs from deck and plant along fence. Unless you are on top of pruning and shaping the figs, they may quickly outgrow the pots. We had 5 similar size figs in pots, which we used to topiary but it wasn't long before they had split the pots and grown to about 4-5m high! They provided excellent privacy as were quite thick. We did have to cut them down eventually as they were too high to maintain and they were too close to our pool. I'm not a huge fan of Lillypillies - mock orange / muraya are a quick growing one you might like. Either way, if on your deck, you'll need to make sure the planters/pots are large enough to allow the trees to grow enough so that they provide privacy....See MoreAalta Australia
