West Australia summer sun shelter needed, with retro style too.

Any ideas for a structure to shade us from the scorching West Oz summer sun?

We have a front enclosed yard that we've decked & put a pool in about 5 years ago, but this front pool deck area gets full sun all day in summer, the front Master bedroom (behind garage/carport) gets a lot
of heat on the window & light in the mornings too, so shading these North facing windows (the bedroom windows facing the pool area) would make a big difference in summer too, when the room is hot from early morning.

We need some more shade out the front around the pool, to protect the furniture from the weather, and to make it more pleasant in summer mornings to sit out by the pool. Problem is (beside the right style pergola or other structure) is we don't want the pool to be in any shade during winter, some mottled shade perhaps?

The house was built in the late 1960's, we want materials to blend with this style, any new structure to be low cost, practical to solve the heat on the area, and the people who enjoy this small salt-water pool & the private in keeping with contemporary renovations with retro original features we've retained... without planting any more vines to drop leaves into the pool (Wisteria already down the boundary side of the pool side wall.. The Playfort is gone now, so just a small lawn for the kids to play, but we have to wait til after lunch in summer to spend time out the front, as it's too hot.

All boundry walls of the home have vertical lush gardens which soften
the render, and the timber of the deck & the glass fence &
original windows all reflect the light around the space. We love the
original solid stone feature wall at the house, and we've followed this
along the sides of the raised deck with stone cladding too

Shade sails not strong enough when it's windy or last long enough in Western Australia's scorching summer heat. The windows directly behind pool furniture back on the lounge/family room. We lose a lot of the Air-conditioners 'cool' through all this glass too, despite block-out blinds on these lounge-room windows. The eaves are not enough to provide the shade needed in this area. We tossed around several ideas, but none seem to fit like it was there all along, design wise, nor would be an all year round solution and not cost the earth..

Any ideas? My husband built the deck himself, has done several renovations, so he can do most things, but we need some practical yet beautiful ideas... LOVE your website and all the beautiful homes from all over the world, I spend hours just looking and dreaming...
