Need ideas for exterior updates!
Comments (8)Hi Amanda, tricky... I would suggest rendering the brick and the upstairs exterior so it all hangs together. Use a poly-render. The upstairs currently looks like an after thought and is not working with the rest of the building as it is. I would paint the render and roof in colours that work with your existing front door and windows as painting these is not a long term option that is going to last without a lot of maintenance. So I suggest using the existing roller door colour for the exterior walls with a heritage red roof, gutters and downpipes. Above all keep it simple....See More1970s L shaped home - updating exterior help
Comments (8)Hi Lizey There are a couple of things you could do to the elevation.... It just needs a direction (style) that you like, eg contemporary etc. A Hampton's style renovation to homes are very popular here in Perth and it hasn't been overdone yet. Your home could have a simple gable to the front, paint the garage door white, weatherboard clad/render the facade etc... these are simple detail works that shouldn't be a big deal with builders in the family. To see what I mean, do a google image search for a Ben Trager HAVEN (no affiliation) home elevation to get the gist. From there you can do an image search for single storey Hampton homes and you will see lots of ideas. If you want to add structure then of course the driveway allows a whole raft of opportunities... Cheers and congrats on the new home......See Moreneed help updating exterior
Comments (7)it's great looking house so the usual advice to clean everything and repair and replace any damage and consider moving the solar panels to the higher roof away from the street frontage and/or try new colour (tone to match solar panels?) for roof and cladding, add modern light fittings, remove, cut back or replace overgrown shrubs and rearrange the entry to make ar feature garden with new planting (grass trees and native grasses?) near the front door with a new curved entry path...See MoreUpdating the exterior of only one side of a duplex.
Comments (11)Our house is the one with the tree in front. We are planning to acid wash the brick to bring it back to its former flory, and update the paint colours using the colour combinations you see on the colour swatches but are unsure about the placement as yet. We have the last 2 options as inspiration but are undecided as yet. We also want to build a porch and arbor to the front door to add some architectural detail and show people to the front door. We are not pushing this building detail onto our neighbors, but we offered the arrangement of all painting should they wish to join us. The last photo shows the shared roof detail which we are unsure of what to do with?...See Moredohraime
