You should consult with your council about height and setbacks. Obviously the taller and heavier the fence the better the noise reduction will be, but many councils have restrictions on front fence height, and restrictions for corner properties where a tall fence may restrict sightlines for traffic coming out of the side street into the main road. There is no requirement for the entry through the fence needing to be on the main road, so it could be from the side street, which would be preferable. If you can stagger the side fence design so that the gate does not face the street even better. Just remember that there is no requirement to have a fence on your boundary, and sometimes you can have a taller fence if it is setback from your boundary, with planting to soften the look. If you look at freeway fencing you will see that they are fairly solid structures without air gaps to minimise sound transmission. Modular concrete fences will be much more cost effective than bricks to build, but never look as nice. Don't consider flimsier fences such as colorbond steel or treated pine paling for nosie reduction. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

Thank you everyone, I’ve spoken to 12 different cabinetry firms since Oct, non have availability or are costing over 40k. I def think I could cut down a cover panel to size so it looks like a corner but could just be a hidden door. I’m also totally ok with smaller storage space as I would want to use one slim cabinet for soaps and sponges, and the other for kids water bottles. The wider access just means we have more stuff that makes its way to the back 😄
