When building a house, a deck or changing your property, you often have to deal with a tricky placed tree, creeping roots, frogs, falling leaves, complicated drainage or rising damp...
Chances are, you’ve come across a problem of this sort before.
Tell us about your experience(s) of struggling with natural setback on your land.
Had as nightmare block at my last house where the weeds would never stop coming up through the deck. We eventually sent a pet rabbit underneath to trim it all down every few months!
With a very sloping block one has to adapt or go rolling down the hill. Making retaining walls which did not require a permit was tricky. (Over 1m high needed a permit) Keeping the Juniper tree roots happy was also tricky. Working around the natural fall of rain water is an ongoing concern. Taking video of heavy rainfall and watching the way the water wishes to go is key to figuring out how to put in drainage. Even when we thought we had it right, nature will still fight you!
