window covering options for large glass sliding doors
Comments (5)Large glass doors will be a major heat leaker... depending on your aspect and the time of the year, leaking heat into the house or out of it. Nothing better than triple block curtains with pelmets (with a top), that go all the way to the floor and extend past the window. Not quite as good thermally but better for adjusting light into the room while maintaining privacy are timber (not plastic) shutters, fitted inside the frame of the window, and again down to the floor... so that the entire window pane is covered when the shutters are closed. The latter would probably best suit your needs, unless your house swings between freezing cold and blisteringly hot....See MoreI need help with window coverings for my bedroom sliding door
Comments (2)I agree with the previous comment re the colour of the curtains and lining properly. Stick to something slightly lighter than the wall colour in a nice cotton or linen blend adding some fullness so when they are open they just clear the glass and frame the doors. I think a heavier rod either in a colour to match the walls or a metallic to compliment the bed frame would work well and I'd lower it slightly. You have plenty of space between the top of the doors and the ceiling so I'd mount the rod approximately half way to give more balance. Good luck....See MoreBest glass for windows and sliding doors
Comments (6)Who ever is quoting on your windows, get them to run quotes on glass of various thicknesses. We ended up with 11mm glass in our stackers because the price difference between the thinner glass was negligible....we were really surprised....See MoreWindow coverings for sliding glass doors
Comments (10)You will need to look at how blinds will clear the door handle if recessed in the frame. There may not be enlightened space. Also wi5 the big door you will need to break it into two or maybe three blinds due to weight of a long span. It’s much easier to pull up a smaller blind which outweighs the negative, no pun intended. I’d look at white, But a pale green or blue may also work particularly if you can echo the colour in cushions, rug or artwork. Get the blind company to bring you samples....See Morelil
