Small bathroom - tile dilemma
Comments (8)To what extent do you plan to tile the walls? Floor to ceiling or just the wet areas (shower/bath section and vanity splash back?). I would personally find full walls in that tile over-powering eg. https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/regents-park-contemporary-bathroom-london-phvw-vp~31719695 I prefer a more restrained use like this where the floor tile is used on one wall to give the illusion of more depth with other walls simple and white https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/wet-room-shower-bathroom-hampshire-phvw-vp~23525132 (Not a professional of any kind but...) Looking at your layout, I would be inclined to go with the feature tile on the floor, the bath hob (sides and surround) and on the long wall running parallel with the bath. The other walls I would tile and/or paint white....See MoreBathroom and ensuite layout dilemma
Comments (38)Hi Pummers, no architect worth that title would ever just provide a default plan. The architect's JOB is to discuss your needs and wants with you and work that into the design, often through a number of revisions until you are satisfied. If he/she doesn't do that, speak up about them not giving you proper architectural service. I know about the problem of space for towel rails in a small bathroom. What I have done in such situations is to fit 2 towel rails on the back of the bathroom door, one at 900 and one at 1800 height. That usually works very well....See MoreBathroom tile choice dilemma - match or not.
Comments (7)HI there! If your looking to save money, then perhaps look into a stainless steel or ceramic walk in shower tray instead? This negates the need for waterproofing / screening / membrane etc and they can look really awesome! Some top architects are using stainless steel trays with timbers and dark tiles and it looks amazing!! Your bathroom looks great with your current tiles on the floor and the beautiful timber joinery frames so I think stainless steel would work in really well with this. If you want to do a proper walk in tiled bathroom, perhaps talk to Warm Up. They do fully tiled walk in showers as well. (not just underfloor heating) and are pretty well priced for what they do. Or companies like the below, this way you get a fully waterproofed, warrantied system. https://www.warmup.co.nz/heating-products/tiled-shower-solutions/ https://plumbingplus.co.nz/products/newline-devon-walk-in-tile-showers-chrome/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwov3nBRDFARIsANgsdoEDYdqIeqSs3rRrHYbLz_EYd94uS6q8F14DoAar6b_Q_b9piXPpNugaAg3cEALw_wcB If you do decide to do a tiled walk in shower, I would recommend doing a completely different tile, rather than one that looks similar. It always ends up looking like you have tried to match and not very good so best to go with something thats clearly different. Perhaps a mosaic or a white 300x75 brick effect tile? Artedomus have some great ranges https://www.artedomus.co.nz/mosaics?gclid=Cj0KCQjwov3nBRDFARIsANgsdoGNwkaKMFgFIbGReFg8qFVIzMZjG5MPPsiLxKmAz9rdvsIa-TIfWRgaAucgEALw_wcB All the best with your renovation :)...See MoreBathroom Mixer Dilemma
Comments (19)It is looking lovely Nadia . I don’t believe that here is a right way as both are fine , but it is what suits you practically and visually . The smaller size basis give you two basins while leaving you plenty of bench space ....See Moreysteb1
