Are you looking for a some bright? soft? rich? neutral? What rooms are you painting? There are so many directions you could go, so a bit more information would help fill out your brief.

Thanks - this is our living area - it's a l-shaped living area comprising lounge, dining, playroom & kitchen. I want to highlight the outside (it's basically an l-shaped room with the outer area mainly windows leading out to 2 tiled balconies. It's elevated amngst tree tops. Currently interior paint is a ale green - but it doesn't work withthe natural meranti wood (seems to exaggerate the honey hues of the wood). We like a "fresh" environment. Thanks for your help withthis. (BTW we currently have aubergine furniture which we'll change also).

Hi evas1, We are loving teal at the moment too! However once you find another colour, you will want to switch up the paint. This is why we are suggesting you go neutral with the walls (Dulux White exchange half) and accessorising with colour- making it interchangeable as seasons/trends go by. Hi Maria, we love the wood but it is a little overwhelming in that space with the timber floor. A liming white is a great idea as mentioned by a few people here. This will let you have the best of both worlds, a lighter, brighter finish while still allowing the wood grain to show through. You could try Feast Watson Liming White Floor Finish (yes, it's not a floor but it has the size of a floor!) and build up the number of coats until you are happy with the amount of timber grain showing through. You'll probably need to give it a light sand first as it's most likely already got some type of coating on it. The other option would be to leave the walls as is and consider a large, light neutral coloured rug as pompom suggested on the timber floor and perhaps a good sized piece of art on the wall or white wall shelving instead of the dark side unit you have to reduce the amount of timber in the room.

Thanks Anne and I will look at pale grey given the maintenance considerations. I have already paid for a colour consultant who was great but the Reckless grey she suggested for the house render and basalt gutters/fascia and front wall were too grey when we had the render samples put on and while it had a modern look, it was not giving the beach/coastal feel. I will head back into our inspirations paint store this morning to see if I can find the warm grey colours that have the most similar colour make up to Dune, and go from there. Anne you don't happen to know the dulux colour most close in composition to Colorbond Dune so I know where to start? Thanks again and I would love to hear from anyone who has got a dune roof and hear if they tried light coloured gutters and what render colours they have used on their walls.

Unless you have the money to update everything else to better complement the bricks, painting them will give you a much more updated look. Over the past 18mths I’ve been working on the front and landscape of my current house, including painting the bricks and it has made the world of difference! I’ve attached a before and after photo! Try bluey greys to use the opposite side of the colour wheel for balance.

Hi Mandyph,

I'm only now back in front of my computer. If you want colours that will tone with the timber and the outside, I would take a look at Dulux colours like Oyster Linen (P16B3), White Duck (P16B1) and Stowe White (PCWE4). I think you'll find the timber isn't too "loud" against these types of colours and the current Aubergine will fit in nicely.

Thanks for this. Interesting in our bedrooms LouieT we have dulux goose egg & the colours work really well. Wanting a different colour in living area will look at the 3 dulux colours you've suggested My Beautiful Abode. Thanks for your help with this.
