When your partner chooses artwork you can't stand, do you...
Comments (44)I'd go with his choice, because even if it wasn't 'my' style, I'd rather feel like he's taking an interest and equally invested in our home together. Plus, if I'm being completely honest, I think his taste is probably better than mine. ;) He rarely has an opinion on anything house-related, so when he puts his foot down, I go along with it: and on each occasion, it's been exactly the right decision. Example: I wanted the whole house painted out in ecru and antique white because it looks awesome with oak floors and I'm kind of a minimalist. Hubby insisted on painting the lounge room in yellow. YELLOW. I thought he'd lost his mind... but I went with it, because I get my way 99.9% of the time, so why quibble about the 0.1%? He insisted that 'in Winter, you'll be glad we have this warm, cozy colour'. And you know what? Every Winter, I love that room. It's an odd duck compared to the rest of the house, but damned if it doesn't actually work surprisingly well. It'd definitely be too much to take as a house-wide theme - but contained as it is, it's pretty great....See MoreDining room styling help
Comments (39)That looks so much better. Definitely make chair covers for the rest. I've used aqua accessories in my room- a throw, some coasters and a leaf shaped bowl for the table which has a silver outside. You can always change the accessories with the seasons (I have a red throw for Christmas time) . I'm also having a dilemma with a large window. Initially I'd wanted plantation shutters in white to replace the dark red cedar venetians which made the room gloomy, but I'm now thinking of softening with semi-sheer curtains. It is only partially overlooked in one corner and the rest looks out onto a wall that is less than 1 metre away....See Morewhat furniture would you choose?
Comments (12)these pics are ones I have added more recently as I try to step away from country style. I'm not confident in choosing a style for the room I just know that my currently furniture isn't what I want. I'm not feeling particularly confident as I don't want much wood or shiny white furniture. I want sturdy pieces. I kinda feel like black furniture is too dark...See MoreIs there a colour 'rule' when choosing your homes colour palette?
Comments (5)I did the same colour pallet as your describing on a new build. Black kitchen window frames, concrete floors and timber accents. Not quite finished yet but I'm happy. Must tell you that Laminex have just brought out a matt black that doesn't show fingerprints for your black kitchen cabinets. Basically I used concrete, accent colour was black, all walls and ceilings in Whisper white and then added timber. Hope this helps....See MoreNew Leaf Design Studios
