Hi if you've got a lot of chasing it is tough to conceal unless patched very well. You don't need to set an entire house (unless of course you've chased every wall). We take each case as it comes depending on the surrounding render condition ie is the brickwork/render fretting already (powdery). If so, we strip it off and put it down as one of those costs where you don't see any benefit but need to do. If not, look at the location and see if it will be very visible in natural light. A good plasterer can make it look pretty smooth and if he can't quite get it then even that can be concealed with flat paint.... Or you strip back that wall only and float and set it completely. Alternatively, when faced with patches that have no hope of repair / lots of light and multiple substrates I dry line every time ie I gyprock straight over the walls /structure / steel and create a new fresh surface. you are super-patient!!! :) :) thank you :) I'm so sorry but I do actually have a couple MORE thoughts!! argh! there are just so many different options.... and this is a bit of an all consuming puzzle to try to solve. here they are: 1) study could become main bathroom - leaving new Bed 4 as per plan since it is bigger & a better size for guests. in this option, some area could be stolen from the study to boost ensuite size - even if it just made the ensuite 1 full metre. Ideally not requiring study window to change. 2) WC could potentially be separate either within this space OR at the back of the old kitchen (allowing for the remaining, longish hall wall to be shorter again) oklouise you may think some of these ideas are not very workable & I'd be so glad for your feedback & comment (and anyone else's comments as well), it's really so incredibly helpful - unbelievably helpful - to have everyone's input. i'd love recommendations on which ideas & options might work best for that balance between function & budget

I would have thought that public liability cover would be included in any quote just as professional indemnity insurance is part of professional fees, however I acknowledge that it would be a huge portion of the overall fee and would not be surprised that insurance may be declined under the circumstances, therefore ending all hope of the move. I do agree that it may be cheaper to build from scratch than to buy an existing home and relocate it which has been our experience in the past. Relocation involves council fees, a structural engineer to determine lifting points, services terminated etc. An experienced home relocation company will know where and how to lift the home without breaking its back. Building from scratch will give you what you want and doesn't require any retro fit to be compliant with todays requirements such as insulation to walls etc, which is why I strongly suggested that you do your homework by starting with a site inspection and quote from an experienced home relocation company not just a crane company. Your dreams may end right there and then. 'mI sorry to be so blunt. I don't like to put a negative spin on your dreams but I don't want to see you end up with a broken home that can't be repaired or worse still a huge law suit if damage to a neighbours home was to eventuate. It's a great idea and may save you some money and will save you time, just do your homework. All the very best.

My husband and I have just argued over our new laundry. He wanted top cupboards along one wall with a washing machine/laundry tub underneath, and a void up one end for the broom and vacuum cleaner. He wanted the cupboards up there for data storage, plus ordinary storage. I wanted only a broom cupboard beside the laundry tub and washing machine, plus somewhere to fold and iron washing. I came up with something we can both live with. There will be along one wall a washing machine, laundry tub, broom closet. On the other wall (where the back door is) there will be a two door bottom cupboard for storage, plus where I can fold and iron clothes. I intend to put a hanging rail in between the broom cupboard and wall beside and over the washing machine/laundry tub where we can hang washing on coat hangers during the wet season, and or dry our swimming cosi's overnight. It is a beach house. .We still both get what we want, but it is more workable. The data cupboard is now at the top of the broom cupboard. It is a walk through two metre square room. There are no top cupboards in the kitchen either. We opted to utilise the island bench as a pantry instead. I should add there is a open doorway from the kitchen into the laundry, then a sliding door between the laundry and two way ensuite bathroom, plus the back door, and no window. I just thought top cupboards in such a room would be too much.
