Comments (14)We spend Christmas Eve watching Carols by Candlelight and preparing for Christmas Day. We bake sweets, ice gingerbread and wrap all our last minute gifts. Christmas Day is then spent sharing a breakfast of traditional Italian cake in the early hours of the morning and opening gifts. Comments (17)I'm not the worlds best cook but my specialty is soups. I have a knack for throwing anything into a pot and add water, simmer for a few hours and hey presto. I give the leftovers, which always tastes better a couple of days old, to my ageing neighbours. They're always have a tear in their eyes when I bring it over. I'm not sure if it's because the soup is fantastic or its my thoughtfulness or they're thinking 'oh no not soup again'. Comments (184)I have been the reigning dessert queen in my family since a teenager. My mum always lamented that she didn't get the baking gene - it skipped a generation and went from my Grandma to me: my cakes and scones would rise perfectly each time, whereas hers quite often fell flat. Unfortunately, my mother's beautiful singing voice and artistic talent completely skipped over me. My four boys love it when I bake, although blending working full time and parenting and a house with a lot of work to do, does limit the time to bake.
