What to do with front entry?

I am struggling with what to do with the entry. Any ideas? The exposed brickwork will be rendered.

I don't have photo shop so my representation is very crude. I would remove bird bath and planter and continue the raised garden bed alongside the front porch. Add a matrix screen to the wall colour to match door or if you have the money some vertical wood panels or stacked stone. Add a retro chair and planter and even some awnings. Add an exterior light and I would love to see those pavers painted in a dark grey. Love the retro opporunity!!

Will you also have the pavers pressure cleaned when the render happens?

What colour will the render be?

I think you have some magnolias growing there at the front.

Could they be extended across the entire front to create a hedge for the patio.

The single high window is awkward, isn't it? Make it a feature by using two laser cut screens. Place them horizontally - one across the window and the other immediately below. This will allow light into the room and also create a point of interest for the front door. Use your lovely terra cotta pot in front of the screens and add another magnolia.

To the left of the front door have a long, lean green wall of living plants - maybe succulents.

Complete - do no more!!

I don't mind it. I would clean the tiled roof and driveway. Repaint the colorbond fence white or cream. I'd paint the brick front fence the same colour, unless the bricks are the same used for the house in which case, I would keep them as is, but perhaps grow a hedge behind them to soften the harshness of the brick. The gutters could also be repainted in the same colour. Remove the fabric window awnings. Install a screening box for the air conditioner. Replace the external wall light with something more simple and contemporary. The entrance is the biggest eyesore to me, but I can't tell how it currently functions. Is it an open porch which was closed in with some timber? If so, I would open it up again and get a new front door in a bright, welcoming colour like blue, red or even yellow with some complimentary potted plants. If it needs to remain enclosed, then I think the external panelling needs to be replaced with something much nicer and lighter. The garden could also use a little work. I think some low plants or multiple potted plants could help to emphasise the path to the entry and take some of the focus away from the dull driveway.

No, I'm sure I've seen his reflection in our ensuite mirror from time to time. But, we're both getting on a bit now, and that could have something to do with it... Though, I live in my own world, where I imagine everyone's eyesight is as bad as mine, so I still don't look too bad!!! Until I put my glasses on....... But we're both healthy and active, which is what counts! Thanks for the positive feedback on the large print and padded bench. I think I get a long planter for under the coat rack and an umbrella stand for the corner where the plant is now.... Any thoughts on this Umbrella stand?????? I really wanted a tall black ceramic one, but impossible to find!!!

Lovely entrance...I would change the wall color, choose from the grey family to harmonise with the paving. Can the side window trim be changed to match the door, black or dark grey? Definitely change the planter, concrete planters are all the craze now. When choosing the planter, proportion is important, I'd go bigger about 3x the one you got . You will find that plants look better against darker walls, it makes the green pop. As the rest of the accessories and styling, I think the way to go is choose what you will love, it needs to tell your story. I'm a firm believer in picking your own stuff out even if it doesn't "match". It can be a little bench, mirror etc have fun with it Call it eclectic Good luck and keep us posted with what you have done

Hi, What a great new space to add to the house.

I would take the pavers out wide to extend the width of the whole area. Add a screen on the garden side near the front door making an outside porch!

Hi, extend the width of your path outwards, attach a pergola structure to either your eves or freestanding. I know exactly what I mean, but have found some similar photos for you, obviously they would have to be adjusted to your exact situation, but hopefully they will give you some ideas. Include planting, maybe climbers if that is what you like

and perhaps some decorative stones also, and some timber seating as in one here would look lovely and make a welcoming entrance also.

I'd move the pot that you've got near the door further out towards the edge and buy another the same and put it in the corner - planting them out with seasonal colour will look spectactular. You could always add hanging baskets along the edge with additional colourful plants in them (for some reason hanging baskets with petunias, pansies etc always look welcoming).

The pot at the front door, the bird bath, and the front door are three very different styles and should be far from each other.

If budget permits or if you like them a bigger birdbath, different texture maybe wrought iron but mainly a few plants will make a big difference, I love the idea of magnolias as someone posted but they do get quite big. Keep us posted

I would have a pergola built along the full length of the path to the front door and paint it the same colour as the door and dig up the lawn area under it and plant a mass planting of some very structural plants. Then hang a contrasting colour screen on the wall next to the front door. Another thing you could do would be to make the front door a real feature by hving some sort of metal attched to it artistically and then some sort pf metal sculpture on the adjoining wall next to the door to tie it together.
