I also have a window like that in our shower - it may, but doesn't normally get wet from the shower. I have put in a thin venetian blind in white (made from plastic) very cheap, under $5. I am in process of making an puffy austrian blind to hang above the window, for a bit of colour I am making it from a shower curtain). It will be there for looks, I may never pull it down. The venetian gives privacy and blocks the light a certain amount.

I guess some people associate 'beach' homes with weatherboard cladding, inside wall panelling, and wooden floor boards to give that relaxed vibe. I personally thing stone would also look effective and require less maintenance in comparison to the wood. Remember, sand has a tendency to scratch floorboards, therefore, over time, it may require some TLC to restore to original condition. Stone would simply require a vacuum and mop and would give a seamless look to the home.

you're not being picky... keep in mind that the workers would be upset if you only gave them a portion of their bill so you need to expect excellent work for your money...i agree that it's a bit shabby and i would have expected a cover strip over the gaps and the nails in a straight line and, more importantly, there could be waterproofing issues if the gaps allow water inside..Once you make the last payment it's too late to complain so first reread your original contract, especially the parts about materials to be used and, if you can identify the type and brand of wall cladding, you should be able to check the manufacturers website for installation instructions and make a copy of the instructions to show your builder, also check every detail of all the new work so you can identify any other problems (and especially anything that you're very happy with) then, email the builder and start with "although we're very happy with (whatever you like).......we would like to discuss issues with the wall cladding before the job's finalised and need to arrange an on site meeting..." best of luck .
