I have an open plan home too but mine looks a bit larger. I would open the space instead of trying to make rooms using the furniture. If there is no other wall, you could put your couch where the tv is and place the TV on a smaller table on an angle where your gas connection is. I would also lighten and brighten the furnishings with chair covers, cushions and maybe even a stretchy lighter couch cover (good too as you can wash so keep fabric on couch clean). I would add some drama and frame the windows with ceiling to floor side drapes leaving the rest for natural light. You can easily do yourself with some cheap cotton fabric and some curtain hardware (as they are not functional, you just need to hang and drape on sides). Id turn your dining table the other way and get some nice stuff happening on your fence outside to draw the eye to the out doors. You could grow creepers, ivy or hang some trailing plants in a row from the fence. There are some great pots that hook onto the top of fences for this so no drilling required. You could also combine fake trails with real until the real ones grow for instant green. Amazon have cheap fake trailing ivy etc. Or, Put some ficus or other trees in pots along the fence. Id repeat some green indoors too ie a pot here and there in corners as you have so much light. Id also get a washable rug to cosy up the tiles and make it look less stark ie one you can throw in the washing machine! I just bought a soft one from target for $25! Alternatively, buy an outdoor plastic one as they can be hosed. I use one of those too and as I have pets, tits great. They have some cool designs too. Chair covers will update your dining chairs and are cheap on sale at places like spotlight and kmart. Lastly, Id look on gumtree for some cool lamps or a hanging light for your dining area. You can be modern but always balance with some natural elements like wood so maybe a wood based lamp or a couple of wooden ornaments. :)

Go with a more neutral patterned traditional fabric for the chair, add a headboard to your bed with the same fabric, or if not the headboard, purchase taller lamps & shades to give a more overall "height" to the room. Jeffrey, you want to bring a more neutral palette into your accessories to complement the busy-ness of your carpet and the darkness of the sofa. Look for textured fabrics in neutral tones, such as hide, wool, linen - but make sure they tone in with the brown sofa. The two side lamps are out of balance where they are as they're swamping the media centre with their dominance! If you're looking for a suitable lamp (just one) to place next to the TV, then opt for a more elongated and slim-line one, with some height. I agree with allanaspree (above) that the lamps would be better suited on either side of the sofa, allowing for nicer ambience in the room. I'm not sure what's situated behind the two chairs, but you could try to swing the lounge room around by moving the media centre and TV to the wall currently occupied by the sofa. Place your sofa and mirror into that vacated spot, and put your side tables and lamps on either side of the sofa. The mirror will reflect the whole room in its entirety, and not just some random open doors behind your chairs! TV viewing will be easier for all with this plan. Moving the media centre will give you a few more options to dress the wall. Just be mindful that less is more on that wall, as it will be competing for attention with the AC. A striking piece of artwork on the RHS of the TV will draw the eyes away from the AC to the left and above. If you do opt to move the TV to this wall, I would not recommend placing any artwork above the television! Not only would it be too busy, but it would compete with the AC and the telly. An assymetrical approach to dressing your wall will give a more visual balance to it. The only other thing I'd recommend would be that you raise the curtains to ceiling height. At the moment, their lowered height is giving the AC prominence on that wall! You want to draw the eyes away from the unit. If your budget can stretch to it, I'd draw inspiration from the brass elements in your accessories, and replace the white curtain pole with a brass one. It's always about BALANCE! Hi Z Cee A lovely headboard choice!! As mentioned in comments above, the headboard is the star of the show in this room but the choice of bedsides need to compliment it. I would look for something that echos the headboard with some texture, or patina but nothing too dark or heavy. Something in antique brass would look great and give a lift against the timber. Sidetables and stools make good options for bedsides if you dont need the storage. A couple of ideas below. Best wishes
