What do you do with valuable 'clutter'??
Comments (10)I agree with most of the above and especially that you need height. At the moment, the only "story " that's being told is that the cabinet is your dumping ground. If you have sentimental things, they need to be "honoured" by having space dedicated to them, otherwise they are background clutter. If this is the space you have allocated to them, then never put your daily chores such as paper work and general dumpiing there. If you don't have space to spare and have to use this area as a dumping ground, perhaps elevating the sentimental to another level, as previouslly suggested with shadow box, or grouping the photos on the wall, or you could do a floating shelf above the cabinet to hold your sentimental items. I would make the shelf shorter than the length of the cabinet. Then you can still use the cabinet top for the other items. If you group the items that belong together, so the wine, decanters and glasses on an attractive tray, they then look like they belong and tell another story and apppear as one item rather than five. If you really need the bench for the dumping site, perhaps get an attractive container with a flip top lid to dump them in or otherwise something attractive that groups the "dump stuf"f and contains it, that way it looks ordered rather than cluttered. Less is definitely more, remove anything unecessary such as candles so that you can have some empty space. At least this is an easy makeover!...See MoreYDL Stone
Comments (71)Thank you for some concrete information. Those samples could actually be different batches of the one colour. The flecks and shading are almost identical. Is the new version the low silica option following legislative changes? If so, you’ve been caught up in a change that was beyond the Manufacturers and your control. It would also explain the same name being used, something typically not done because it causes problems. PS you assumed I’m a guy. I’m not but I do have 25+ years of dealing with contracts, vendors and projects. Half my life is spent trying to get suppliers to do things they may not want to do, and it all comes back to the paperwork particularly the disclaimers and exclusions. I can’t see any resolution for you....See MorePRO POLL: What has been your biggest obstacle in 2016?

Comments (11)Hi Amanda, Storage is a huge issue in every house and my personal take is that for the amount of time spent in a laundry we dedicate to much real estate to it - I'd rather have a bigger kitchen space. I also think that school bags go to the bedroom the second kids get home - a hall table for keys is brilliant but you dont want to end up with a heap of clutter as you walk in the door. I'd do the 1.5m extension, I'd leave the laundry where it is but put it behind cupboard doors in the kitchen area (removing the wall between the laundry and kitchen and part of the wall between your current pantry and laundry on the plan) - this way you gain floor space (how frequently do you do laundry while you've got visitors?), this then allows you to keep your panty size but put it behind bifold doors. I'd also and have the ensure that I had a stacked washer/dryer set up so that I had more space for a broom closet. Regarding the covered deck - it'll depend upon which way it's facing - if the western sun will hit the back - then you'll be very glad of the covering and possibly want more. If you're concerned then look for coverings that will suit the area - ie louvered outdoor roof area might be a way to go. Good luck!...See MoreVy
