Thank you, you cant see the the trees I have in the photos due to winter but I have 12 trees already in my front yard. ( 7 silver birch, 1 mop top 2 weepings, 1 red maple and a another) I do love the hedging. I was thinking something like the below photo with the same path going to my front door but placing the same purple plants around the sides that I have in my 3rd photo . I would like to use edging do I place some along the 3rd photo. I love the above photo with the trees and hedge layering, I could do that along the front fence. What do you think ? I don't really know plant names so I am saying sorry in advance

Hi Marie, I'm not a pro, but I had a similar dilemma a few months ago when I was renovating my home & garden. Wasn't sure which style I want exactly, but wanted it to look modern and sleek but not to be expensive. Pinterest helped me a lot with creating mood boards with selections of plants, colours, other interesting elements. When I planed it all out, I started a hunt for the plants, furniture and stone tiles. That's where the complications started. I couldn't find anything that will match my vision, something was always missing. Then I decided to call the pros. I called the local company for landscaping in North Shore that helped me plan my backyard in no time, for a price that is I would say, more than reasonable. I recommend you to ask pros for tips, at least a consultation. They are well informed where any type of the material can be found as well. Good luck!

Hi We had the same decisions but in a new build We went with a floating hearth and mantlepiece between the 2, as I think they add to the fireplace feel, even if it is gas. I wanted non symmetrical so an art work or ceramic will go on the other side (not shown in pics) it doesn’t have the cupboard The hearth is the same tiles as the outside paving The other way for ours would be to have made the plaster to resemble an old fashioned chimney great & painted that. They issue we have is the fireplace has been supplied without a part so not yet complete Best wishes for your decisions

Hi Jonathon, I think you could achieve a lot with colour and maybe some wooden features. This house, whilst it has a much more varying roof line, has features that I think could be incorporated, like charcoal and wood in what I will call the middle panel in your photo, and then maybe put frames, painted charcoal around the other windows to contrast against the white (where they have used black windows). This is from Boise Boys on t.v. and it is an awesome end result. Near the front door it is painted black then with wooden slats over it. It looks fantastic! Good luck and let us see end result!
