Hi, I have just installed a long span stone bench with an 80mm edge detail for a kitchen bench. Because it was over span and very heavy, we had to support both the weight of the stone and the possibility that someone would sit on the kitchen bench (not something everyone considers). We just designed a steel tube frame to be concealed within the cabinetry and behind the fascia panel, bolted to the floor with a couple of horizontal bars to support the overhang. We used a 40 x 40 steel tube and I got a local welder to make it up for us. You wouldn't need that big a tube. In your case, the support required is quite substantial because of the overall span along two axis. You have a couple of options here... 1. put a leg in 2. use the brackets as your stone mason had shown 3. create a concealed frame (will require a thicker edge detail) spanning from the cupboards at either end and bolted to the wall at the back edge. It could be as simple as this and could probably be done out of 25mm x 25mm square tube. Cheers...

Hi FHB, the Diamond white you have is a large-chip pattern reconstituted stone. If it is of any help in seeing images of this type, then Caesarstone have a similar looking stone style in their range called Nougat 6600 and on their web page for this they have lots of kitchen images which have used this Nougat 6600 material. Quantum Quartz also have a Galaxy Black similar to your Diamond Black and on their website they don't have many kitchen images but they do have a kitchen visualizer page that will allow you to load up the Galaxy Black into a preset kitchen image. Yes, bigreader. My study adjoins the living room but is set much further forward. I wanted to use Roman Blinds in there. On the other side of the living room is the front entry (no windows - just front door) and a wide bifold door between the kitchen/meals area and terrace, then the pantry and laundry which I have wide horizontal windows as well but 600mm high, and I was planning a simple blockout roller blind for each of those windows. The bifold has a special pleated blind that fits into each section and I can't find any other window treatment for bifolds other than drapes, verticals, panels, or shutters that get in the way when the doors are opened. I think it would be quite a challenge to keep them consistent across the front, although I agree it does look better. Here is the plan as it currently stands (a few tiny tweaks to be made yet but nothing significant)
