Could you show us a picture?

Hi jmac Lovely choice of paper and fabric - lots of lovely texture going on. Now to calm the beast use lots (LOTS) of white - cushions. bed cover. lamp shades and incorporate greenery. Perhaps a cane/timber chair with white covers and complimentary cushion. The cane will add some warmth. Use some mirror glass containers for decoration. Anchor the room with a dark coloured rug under the foot of the bed - blue? raspberry? Make the lamp bases the same colour If a room contains wood,metal, fire, water and earth elements, it will always be balanced. So the only other thing to add is a sunburst mirror. Have fun and let us know what you decide.

rest of the walls are white at this stage....think they will stay that way. May change the shade, but doubt we would change to a colour (unless we decide it needed it!) floor is carpet ... kinda nondescript brown/grey/donkey sort of colour. Sort of shade that blends into any decor. sorry bigreader, the curtains are DEFINITELY staying.... I love heavy, dramatic drapes. And being a north facing room we need it to block the heat & sun FYI At this stage am leaning towards the grey background - I think the plain white is a little stark....but keep the ideas/opinions coming!

The problem is that we have no idea of the rest of your house , whether it is ultra-modern or classical or colourful or eclectic or . . . . . . . With the limited info , personally I'd go for a burgundy and ( narrower ) gold striped wallpaper , or possibly cream and bright sunshine yellow stripes , but then everyone is different . I wouldn't go with anything 'organic' looking , including grass or flax looks , fake timber or any wallpaper along those veins . The grid wall idea isn't a favourite either , but depending on ceiling height , how about doing the lower 1/2 to 2/3rds of the wall like that , then vertical striped wallpaper above that ? Breaks it and makes even more of a feature IMO .
