Help please help with side hall table and desk

I now have finished my gathering furniture for my new place I Brough a hall table and desk on line but the photo of the wood looks very different to when it arrived it's a lot darker then excepted any advice on the set up should I get rid of the two item s? Thank you

This is my final outcome of my deco! Thank s everyone for your advice too Just not sure about the rug

I'm not entirely sure what you/we are looking at. Could you maybe explain what you were looking for, and what you got? And why it doesn't work?

As the items will not be side by side then maybe they will still look related due to the style if not exactly the colour/shade you were hoping for.

If they are not what you ordered then there is a case for returning them to get what you paid for Jessica ;)

I would just LOVE a space like this in my home, for I would agree with dohraime above and keep the flow and view into your lounge space free-flowing. One can never have too many views to gaze at! I would make the space say "library" and: - keep the wall unit and include plenty of books - keep the gorgeous floor lamp - add 2 small lightish coloured, plain or patterned comfy chairs and a small coffee table underneath the stairs - add a complimentary console table on the wall opposite the stairs - add a large stylish mirror over the console table to bounce light around the fairly dark space - add a generously sized, patterned rug with some lightish colours in it, round or oblong, whichever you prefer. If the comfy chairs are patterned, ensure the rug coordinates with them Oh .... And a statement pendant ceiling light as well even though you have down lights already good luck!

Thanks so much for your input everyone. Those who had a look at my idea books, unfortunately they are super outdated and a couple of years old. SInce then we have moved and our style has slightly changed. I do think the majority are right in that a coffee table would be too crowded- Vy the tv unit supports the tv as it is not wall mounted. We mounted it but it looked so out of place that we reverted back to the tv unit. I think i will search for a nice side table to place in between the two recliners and leave the space in the middle. The trunk doesnt look great in the middle as its quite a bit higher than the chairs unfortunately! Thanks again for all your input!

The hallway is bright and welcoming. Forget a mat as you have dogs as well as elderly family. Unless the chair is serving a purpose, I would remove it and add a full-length wall hung mirror which will reflect light and make the hall look an indeterminate length and you can used it to see your reflection before you leave the house.

Hi Jodi , Personal artwork would look gorgeous, or large pieces , a book shelf could look great but it could get a little messy , it’s really about the look you are after. An uncluttered hallway seems to look great at anytime and makes I easier to manoeuvre specially as you said you have a wheelchair user.

Hi jmm I brought a few rustic items to set up in my new home I had already purchased a tv unit which I designed a rustic Indian boat dining table and hand made 2 side tables but just needed advice on the hall rustic table and rustic desk I brought today but the wood may be too dark or look ready bad with the other items they will mostly be in the same room I will add a photo of the items sorry about the mess all the packing thank you jmm

They are all rustic, set your room up how you planned, then add your styling bits and I think the difference in color will fade our, particularly if you are using the colour of your chairs to style with, good luck and don't over think it Jessica you will send yourself crazy. Ask 'who am I doing this for?' And if you like it, it is all good

Personally, I like the stripe. I also think you need to get some bigger objects on and in that bookcase. Too many itsy bitsy things there right now. A few books, some magazines, things to give a bit more substance to that wall.

Keep the stripe rug. Get some books on the bookcases and cull the little items. In craft and discount stores you can get medium wooden boxes with a glass lid and wooden dividers. Stain or limewash and finish with wax. You could display your little collectibles in there. Bigger ones should be grouped in odd numbers of three or five, max, in front of large items like a vase or finial. Sculptures should be displayed alone, and be bigger. Put up hand made items, and repurposed industrial items, maybe from the history of the breadwinners' careers? Maybe your grandfather's adding machine, or lathe.

Love the plants, but group them together in a couple of groups, they will be happier, and look better.

HI Jessica, very happy you have sorted the furniture, it looks great. I like your choice of striped rug as well. Plants are great, I haven't had plants n the house for years , but adding in a few now. Your house looks vibrant and lively. Sit back and enjoy. Good job

Love your rug...it ties in the room deco very nicely. I agree with the other houzzers that the bookcases behind the lounge would look better with bigger pieces and collectables...magazines, pot plants, keep sakes. Keep refining and post the updated pics!
