Comments (3)Thanks! They were pretty good - it was fairly painless but we had great installers (independent but allocated by Ikea to us) and I think that would make the difference. We were bullied into use a sparky/plumber company who were expensive (not massively but just an annoying amount) and less careful than we would have liked. We won't fall for that again. Next time we will use our own regardless of the supposed 'hassle' this causes. One thing though is that we originally decided to use Ikea for the ability to replace elements should they break. But we discover now that they change their 'kitchen systems' every few years and ours is now obsolete. A bit annoying. It is a great kitchen though and we will probably use them again for cabinets and go a bit more individual for the bench top....See MoreBefore & After: An indoor-outdoor transformation
Comments (7)I'm obviously weird . Three things that I find strange -- -- Wouldn't you do the tank before building the garage and Air B N B ? Makes everything easier , and if you are worried that the tank won't stand up to utes and trucks driving over it , then its probably going to give problems at some stage anyway ? -- Why do the garage door in timber ; the gate in what looks like 'plasticated timber' or maybe its painted , not stained , and then the roof thing in a different style and colour and roof pitch ? The fence down the right hand boundary looks unstained -- are they going to leave it like that , or maybe add a 4th brown , or maybe charcoal ? The roof thing looks like pavers , in another colour again ( plus personally I dont like pavers -- they move and wobble in time ) . Me , as a complete amateur , I love the concept and most of the execution , with the exception of that roof thing ( do you call it a pergoda ? ) . Floor would be in the same aggregate concrete as the drive if I was doing it . A built in BBQ and/or fire pit in a wall ( or 2 shorter walls making a corner ) , done in the limestone and render , with the grey gutters . The roof only over half the area -- the rest in a pergola ( open ) style , made of the same timber and same stain as the garage door ( and obviously the automatic gate would have been specified exactly the same ) . The smaller part of the roof in a steeper pitch , with a fake shutter to match the garage . The pergola in a flatter style . Me -- I'd add a spa or similar too . Basically -- have one person design and execute it , not a 'team' ....See MoreApartment bathroom renovation - before and after
Comments (9)We've got 2.4 x 2 to play with. We put baths in the last two houses we reno'd but we had bigger spaces. We feel now that possibly it's better use of space and functionality for the house to have a bigger shower, bigger vanity and no bath. Our kids are 8 and 12 now. It's funny about the children and bath thing, as we've debated that back and forth for this current reno but at the end of the day we barely used the bath in the other two houses anyway, granted the second one the bath was the last thing added lol so it was really too late but we were in the first house up until when the kids were 7 and 4. We used to bath them in the laundry sink when they were babies! Then they used to just shower with us. :)...See MoreBefore & After: Clever kids' room storage
Comments (14)Hi Liz. Thank you for getting in touch and I am glad you like the design. It was a risk putting pale upholstery on the bench seating, but the fabric is scotch guarded and the owners have had little problem with the fabric. The fabric can be laundered, however to remain in shape and to retain its quality, it is best to be dry cleaned, which the owners were happy to do if and when needed. I don't have photos of the remainder of the room available at this time, however the opposite side of the room features built in wardrobes along the wall and a bed. Essentially in the middle of the room is a large rug and some large flat cushions offering plenty of room for the child to play with his toys. I hope this information helps. Thanks and regards, Michelle...See MoreShari
