Need help choosing a tile for downstairs bathroom
Comments (3)Modern rustic: 12x24" porcelain tile made to resemble a wide piece of distressed wood. Not an overtly obvious wood grain, more of an implied grain that you only see after studying it for a minute. Rectified and small grout joint. (Form follows function in design- easy to live with is always first!) option B: a vein cut travertine patterned 12x24 in brown or gray tones. Set in a soldier corse, straight stack pattern, so it's not about the grout joints, it's more about the linear pattern of the tile....See MoreBathroom renovations - Tile dilemma.
Comments (6)I think the first mood board is more visually appealing and will make more of a statement. As for the black, they look great but i would aim at not making the room to busy, and just selecting 2 different styles of tile at the most. If you have renovated other rooms of the house or are trying to keep a theme through out - think about this also. Also i believe it would be more worthwhile for your home if you keep the two bathrooms similar, with minor changes like the size of the bathroom tiles - this wont be a big deal, as long as they are similar. Would love to know how you went and what you decided upon!...See MoreBathroom Feature Wall with same tiles as floor tiles???
Comments (9)Hi Sofia I definitely think brick lay would work better on the walls in the bathroom purely because you have a 30x30 on the floor and a 30x60 on the wall. You will find the tiles could look out of place trying to stack them. It would be a different matter if they did not share 1 or more dimension. Perhaps in the ensuite, consider doing something like this: [https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/what-architecture-beirutful-house-eclectic-patio-london-phvw-vp~14310278[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/what-architecture-beirutful-house-eclectic-patio-london-phvw-vp~14310278) Tile the floor and half way up the back wall with the "floor tiles", perhaps a tile or 2 above the vanity unit and then continue with the white tiles to the ceiling. You could hang your mirror so it covered about 1/4 of the "floor tile" and 3/4 of the white above the centre of the sink. In the main bathroom consider something like this: [https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/victorian-dream-bathroom-victorian-bathroom-london-phvw-vp~39122647[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/victorian-dream-bathroom-victorian-bathroom-london-phvw-vp~39122647) Tiling the back wall to the shower in the "floor tile" to the ceiling with the white tiles behind the loo to the ceiling. Alternatively, tiling the entire back wall with the "floor tiles". The first option may make the bathroom feel smaller if the shower takes up more than 1/3 of the back wall. Doing the two different options would give the bathrooms continuity, but also some individuality. I hope this helps. Look forward to perhaps seeing the outcome. Comments (18)Hi Creativelychallenged, thanks for the feedback and I love the floor tile we have chosen too! It’s called Riverview Stone and has a really nice feel underfoot. We are doing the Reno very much for us, we bought our house about 4 years ago and have no plans to leave it. After years of moving across the country as a defence family (12 houses, lots of very neutral bathrooms) I am on a mission to use a bit of colour, especially as it’s a kids bathroom and deserves to be nice and bright :). Our kitchen and ensuite are on my wish list, hoping to give them an update in the next few years, so this is our first venture into renovating territory.......See Morepatriciana61
