Need a shed or structure for this space

Hi, I'm in need of ideas on how to solve a shed/location problem(sheds needs to be big enough for a car/work shop, about 8m x 4 or 5m)
We have a nice sized back yard with a pool going in one half and would like to keep the other half for grass garden area. We could put the shed here no problems but then lose that half of the back yard to a shed and that's not ideal.
These is side access for the block and at the moment we think that this space is not utilised very well, would be a great place for the shed or structure we want. Instead of a shed we are open to other ideas as long as the structure is semi secure and keeps the weather out.

We are happy with this crowd, but have had to buy a few missing bolts for the carport. Reckon its the strongest kit carport in Aus, though. Have bought four of their structures. Check your council regs, need to put in the Absco plans (photocopy) to council, if over a certain size. Instructions for pouring a concrete slab are on the Internet. Make it high enough to stop water running in under.

yes was thinking along the same line ..a car port down that side of the house..that way you'd still be able to entertain when weather is bad..ie park car outside and people inside..

what a great space! think about shade. you may have to go for sails as you don't have time to wait for trees to grow. think about growing a hedge between the concrete area and the garden behind it. some varieties can be quick to grow to 2 metres. maybe mark out ball an hopping games in the middle and a bike track on the outside of the pad with using coloured tape a table and chairs under the shelter? mural or vines up the white wall?

I hired a storage space (c 2,5 cubic m) when we were putting our house on the market. I needed to make the house look better, and I also needed to start the packing process. Because it was 20 km away, I thought long and hard about everything that went into that space, as compared to what I could donate, sell or trash. Amazing how much stuff is around, but not important at all. Let's just say that I got rid of more than I stored. And since we moved into our new house, I've eliminated another few car boot loads. My motto: if it isn't important enough to be in your house, in use or on display, it sure isn't important enough to spend money storing it.

Hi, its very common to have a structure on a boundary with a parapet wall. We are just finishing up some landscaping (dig out the old dead weeds, new trees and lawn) and painted the one below in Taubmans Zelda. Have to do a bit of touch up where we levelled further and a mow to finish but you can see it makes a great backdrop.

Hi siriuskey, House plans going okay but shelved for a while, when son gets back from working away he can find out more on rules and regulations just so we don't have plans drawn then find no go with local council. I have taken on board your suggestions about the outdoor area re roof I like the slats and they should give good shade. I have always liked the look of ply and we will price that vs other materials. if you are worried about the elements can pop zippered plastic screens in along the sides ..roller door out the front etc

Well, it's Abscos skillion roof carport that's very strong, more than the gable one last time I checked. Gable roof carports can also cut out sunlight to house windows, while skillion leaves some light at top . You'd still need a shed for storage. Garages are obviously more secure for the car. Re a large shed/garage, you can get extra windows and skylights in many, also roll insulation and cyclone bracket kits. Some have extra height, if you have a boat, or are tall.

you pay extra for colorbond. If its visible from the street, or from entertaining rooms, that's worth it. They have regular sales.

one person needs a helper at certain stages. A mate of ours dislocated his shoulder while carrying a large sheet of steel, for a large commercial shed, when a gust of wind caught it.

solar garage lights are available in hardware stores, you'd need a few for a garage, or wire the shed to house. Hardware stores also have storage systems for common shed/garage items, to click and store on the metal walls.

My first hubby used to say, every man needs a shed, with a couple of old bucket seats from a Datsun in it...
