Need help styling our black leather sofa
Comments (14)Definitely start with a rug. I don't know what your style is so can't make specific rug suggestion. But, I would take advantage of this neutral palette to choose a rug with a design and colors I love, then add pillows and accessories repeating those colors. Make sure the rug is large enough to be in scale with the sofa. The sofa has pretty hard lines, you might consider a round ottoman out of fabric. Above the sofa you could do artwork in graphic black and white, or color. Don't worry about everything matching. I am a believer that artwork is chosen because you love the piece. It should stand out in the room if you made the decision to invest in something. Check out local colleges the art department has several sales during the year of student art; especially around this time of year. Comments (7)@wuff, Actually, I found a Chesterfield look alike some years ago at Domain I think, called the Americana, amazingly comfortable but huge, built for giants, even the chairs were like a day bed in length and I mean by that, that the distance from your butt to your knees was very long but they were indeed comfortable but I wasn't so comfortable with the price, at over $3,000 for a single lounge chair. You mention already having leather stools and dining chairs, what colour are these? Perhaps replace 2 scatter cushions on each with a charcoal linen-look fabric that picks up the colour on either side of the wide stripe, or to keep the look fresh and Hamptons inspired, a soft beige linen fabric, with an alternate piping colour that ties in a colour from the sofa.
