I'll stick my neck out and say I love painted brick, especially when not in overwhelming proportions, so I think your house would lend itself well to this treatment. I can see the brick on your house painted in Surfmist - I believe it would totally transform the feel of your house. I love what you've done so far. If you do paint the brick though I would paint the garage door the same dark grey of the wood trim. Jon n Kate Miller are right - if you paint brick you have to be committed. Also don't take short cuts on surface preparation but if done properly there's no reason it shouldn't last as long as any other painted surface.

Hi there, it's not pretty but I think you will get the idea, nothing is to scale you can get the kitchen companies or Bunnings/ikea to do this for you at no cost. Keeping the windows and doors to save money. If you would like a second sink that shouldn't be a problem for you to access plumbing. The Pantry can be with or without doors, sliders or opening. I have marked two options for the fridge. You could possibly allow an opening or glass next to the stairs and between the Pantry and the fridge wall oven to allow extra light back into the stairway. The study computer desk under the windows is a lovely spot and great for when you are preparing meals and need to keep an eye on family computer use/study, also good for looking up recipes.

Lachlan,thank you for your reply,is the old steam tractor down near the dam under or near the peppercorn tree as you drive up the hill to the Homestead ? I must tell you that I enjoyed my visits to Coombie and over the years honed my bushcraft there.I am 62 yrs old in June and remember Coombie like yesterday.Is the old coke burning oven/stove still in the kitchen in newer part of the Homestead ?

we need to see the new kitchen in relation to the rest of the rooms...if the original space was 4m deep what's happened to the "leftover" space in every direction?? .where does the door lead to? what do the windows in the pantry and at the end of the kitchen look out to...how high off the floor are the windows and what sizes are the two windows..does your plan have a opening from the pantry to another room? how many ovens do you want, do you want a fridge and separate freezer? how do you plan to use the pantry space? do you need to be able to close the pantry off from the rest of the kitchen?
