I think it depends on the type of marble you are using. If you are using a real marble (not a granite or reconstituted stone) I would be very worried about chipping and staining with an undermount sink. Real marble is quite a porous, soft stone, and I would never use it in a heavy duty area such as a benchtop around a sink. This is why the fake marbles are so popular as these engineered stones are more suited to heavy-duty kitchen service than the real marble. When looking at undermount sinks be aware that they are more expensive to install as the inside edge of the stone cutout needs to be hand polished. Lots of these undermount sinks also build up a dark line of mouldy slime between the junction of the top of the sink and the underside of the slab. However they do look great when they are new! Yes. I love it every day. I have Caesarstone too and no chips at all. I had five grooves cut. The only thing to note is that they can build up mould (especially as we have our dishrack on top) I just wipe them down once a day by pushing my finger wrapped in a cloth down the groove.

Hi Jay j, I still stand by this so if you are reading reviews with people reporting their own negative experiences (not hear-say), make sure they are also specifying a brand and model to check they are talking about reconstituted stone (granite) sinks and not Acrylic. Knowing the brand they are reviewing you can check from the manufacturer what they are made from as well as check the manufacturers warranty and their own assurances given about performance. When you go through reviews, it is a good idea to make sure that people are actually talking about Granite Sinks, which are made of the same type of material as Reconstituted Stone benchtops are made of, and they are not talking about coloured Solid Surface sinks made from Acrylic which do have these problems listed. Some people confuse the two. Modern Granite Sinks do not tend to have the staining, chipping, and cracking problems that are inherent with Acrylic Sinks. Some people mistakenly think the Acrylic sinks that were popular in the 1980s and 90s, plus still used in today Acrylic Solid Surface benchtops are the same material as today’s Granite sinks; but they are totally different. Before choosing any surface, do the finger test, unless you are house clean slave. The finger test is see what marks show with a slightly greasy(hand lotion) fingers. Most blacks show finger marks big time. Same with counter tops. Best test is scatter with bread crumbs, if that disturbs you forget it, otherwise you will be kitchen cleaning all day. The same goes for concealed handles, they quickly get full of crusted much and chip easy. A working kitchen needs to be practical, easy to clean and totally family proof.
