Find out where your nearest Men's Shed is. They are all over the country now. Show them what you want and they will whip one up in no time and usually at very moderate prices.

I don't have stacker doors, I am too far south and want an airtight seal. We are doing Binq slider which are 2400 high and around 4 mtr long - only opening one side. I can have it open to the middle or the kitchen though. And we will have a large window where the living room is as I want a cosy winter nook. But of course our living window can open for breeze too and will be about 2mtr wide at least. From what you guys are saying opening to the middle of the extension is preferable! I guess as I am the cook standing about I was thinking of myself with a pleasant breeze blowing around me as I stir my pot. ;-)

annb1997 - I’m not sure if I was clear. The microwave and the fridge are currently side by side. Currently the fridge is to the left and the microwave to the right. I was asking about swapping them around - ie the fridge to the right and microwave to the left. Reason was to create better access for the fridge as it’s further from the island bench. The APP cupboard near the external stacker doors is just a normal full height cupboard - it was supposed to be the appliance cupboard but decided on a normal cupboard. Must update the plan to reflect this.

It is in good location as far as the triangle rule; however, you could have another short bench with drawer cabinet under (for storing drink glasses) on other side of fridge. That way, the kitchen doesn't end with the fridge, but a cabinet instead. We had this exact thing in our previous kitchen. It's handy to have glasses right where they are needed for cold drinks.
