Design help for my small living room??
Comments (14)Thanks for all the suggestions. It's taken a bit of time but I have collected a few pieces to make the space look better. I decided on a table lamp and have grouped some photos behind it. I'm really happy with the result. a couple of new cushion covers for some more colour which I love. I also have a clock for the far right wall and a picture for behind the couch. i don't love the picture but it will do until I can find something I really like (and have the funds for). thanks for all the great suggestions....See MorePlease help my back yard, where can I put a deck?
Comments (8)Sorry, I don't know how to load a photo, but the finished tiles look just like the Ladbroke Trc pavers above only it was done with poured, coloured concrete and then cut and grouted to make it look like pavers, hence no weeds ever! We had it done a terracotta colour which looks great. The sides were done as a wooden retaining wall with stairs up to the higher level of lawn, also done in the concrete. The advantage of concrete opposed to decking is that you never have to think about again as it doesn't rot like decking does after a few years and have to be replaced. It make cost a little more initially, but long term it's really worth the money. We finished off the top of the retaining wall with buxus hedging, but you could put flowers or whatever you fancied there. The concrete trucks have long hoses which can pump the concrete a long distance to the back of your house so no worries there. Hope that helps. Good luck....See MoreHelp me with my new butlers pantry design
Comments (17)Personally I love angles & splays, BUT they have to have purpose and be functional. Without seeing more surrounding context hard to comment but i can't help wondering why this all being so squeezed in one area, but then almost wasted/under-utilised space in-between the island and the table - it's like the pantry's boxing/internalising the kitchen which is not ideal.....either way I'd make sure that it flows and is functional and not awkward anywhere...See MoreSmall side yard advice
Comments (15)You've made a great start. I'd think about spray painting your security screens white and having all of your pots in one colour so that you've got a unified colour pallet (it helps bring a space together) then having climbers along your timber fence as they don't take up a huge amount of room in the ground/pot. I'd then bring in colour with plants and add colourful cushions on your seating. Remember too that green can be treated as a neutral colour, but with your white, gray and brown colours that are in the space already, keeping plants to pure green can be stunning. You could also think about a vertical garden on the fence (keep in mind you will want to have an automated watering system for them - that can go on a couple of times a day in hot weather to be as successful as possible). https://www.rivasdesign.com.au/ have great outdoor mirrors that might help you to expand the space. Whatever way you go, think about layered planting - tall to the back, mid and low height plants at the front. This will help you make the space feel a bit bigger....See Morer_dhillon14
