Living room dilemma

My style leans towards Mid-Century Modern, however I recently received an old Persian/Oriental rug, the colors do match almost perfectly with the rest of the room, however I was wondering if it would look tacky if I placed it in my living room along with my glass waterfall coffee table?

Generally I think Oriental carpets work anywhere is the colors are relating to something in the room.

Not sure if you can make you current table height adjustable and what's involved with making the banquette wide enough for lounging but here are some pictures. I do not see an issue at all with seeing the dining when entering, I suppose it depends how you live, and whether you will always be sitting at the dining room table. It uses the entire space, it is not cramped into the corner. It is the best layout from the two offered. My suggestion, if it is such an issue, to install a small vertical screen to stop the direct sight lines to dining table. Maybe a plant also to make a visual entry space.

I think by moving the unused fireplace , you could make this a tv area or dining area, then have a couch and two chairs, coffee table around the fireplace, it just needs a little thought on placement but it could look a really warm and inviting room. Mixing formal and casual pieces could look great.

This image gives you an idea of how successful an oriental rug can look with a glass waterfall coffee table. I think you could pull it off if you can add some modern elements to the mix (i.e. the white lamps in this image are a great complement to the coffee table). As the glass coffee table is so sleek you want to add more things in a similar style to create some cohesion in the room. Hope that makes sense!

I use oriental rugs in all kinds of interiors and I love them with bent glass tables so the rug is not hidden
