Thanks John, forgot to mention that I am in sunshine coast, QLD. The first ones are from Jatana interiors (White Moorish Night) as I found out, but not sure what material as I was not able to contact them yet.

The second ones are from Beaumont and they are listed as ceramic tiles.

So...only concrete tiles are the ones that need to be sealed?

Regarding size... Would 300x300 look better in small space than 200x200 or the other way?

yep, can get them in QLD. The artisan range that is closest to what we're after is aroun $250/m2 mark... Way out of our budget

SC wouldn't give me a price as they say only local providers can. They mentioned National Tiles which are close by, so I called them and they gave me this price yeah...

Just found them (SC - Artisan range) in Brisbane at $172/m2 http://www.cheaptilesonline.com/?s=artisan&post_type=product They are still pricey as we had allowed around $50/$60 m2.... we could stretch a bit but not to $170

The 300x300 we liked at the begining, didn't look nice when the pattern was build with many tiles, so we had to change.

The ones I found on sale at $25/m2 seem to cover all the bases:

Tile size: 200 x 200mm Rectified Edge
Material: Glazed Porcelain
For use: Internal
Finish: Matte

Otherwise I'd have to go for the ones at $90 /m2 in ebay.... but the difference in price is a lot and not sure in terms of quality if it's worth it...

I think with patterned tiles it is more how dark/busy the pattern is, rather than the overall size of the tile, that will affect how spacious the area feels. Will post finsihed photos hopefully soon. Wall frames are built now, tomorrow all the plumbing should be sorted, so weekend will be working on restoring an old dresser to make a vanity. That's the fun part! :-)

Everyone is right the artisan tiles are wonderful on a small floor area. They are very dramatic. Our office is inside Elegance tiles and they too sell them for under $200 per sqm.

Thanks nano07 for the pictures. The bathrooms look absolutely beautiful; particularly the ensuite. You must be very happy with the end result. Although I am now depressed. I have been doing so much research for my bathroom and feel the end result just will look boring. and yet I see some people like you who have some creative flair can put masterpieces together like this. Do you mind telling me the dimensions of your ensuite. I am assuming that your house is an old Queenslander. The pre-war era certainly had some beautiful features in their homes/bathrooms such as those tiles.

That's quite amazing how it worked out for you considering you had compromised with the modern and not feeling great about it.....like I said it looks great and good on you for being a bit adventurous with the colours

In terms of design we put a busy floor tile, but we chose it greyish instead of black and chose subway tiles to contrarest as they are pretty simple :-)

Forgot you asked me for the measurements, here they are:

This was a single 2-way bathroom that had an entrance through our bedroom and through a main hall next to the kids' bedrooms. We added the wall in the middle to create 2 separate bathrooms. We were very concerned about the space as the original bathroom didn't feel very big, so splitting it in two was scary. But we're very happy with the final area in both bathrooms. Specially the ensuite. It doesn't feel small at all.

This was the original bathroom:

We kept the original double shower size in the ensuite and converted the cabinet into the shower for the main bathroom.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas :-)

Nano07, I've only just stumbled across this post, and OH MY, you have done a wonderful job with your bathrooms. You have great taste. Having grown up in an old American Colonial style home, I think you hit the nail on the head with your renovations. It's wonderful to see such beautiful work, all the detail, colours and those vanities! Well done!
