I have bought a friends house and would like advice on how to place furniture to maximize use of small lounge / living areas. Also wondering if i should repaint the walls to a lighter cream or a different colour to suit my style of furniture. Floorboards are very dark - almost a red/brown. Working to a tight budget so changing flooring is not an option. Should i put a small round table where the brown leather couch is and have sofa's where the table is now or leave as is? Wondered about changing linen cupboard near table to a built in drink cabinet, but would leave very tight for storage. My preference is transitional style - with lots of neutral colours. Have also included plan / current furniture layout and ideas i like from houzz - open to suggestions / ideas - thanks. (NB current owners furniture in all photos)
