Kitchen, dining and living reconfiguration advice
Comments (13)some great idea's already suggested. What ever you do you have to get rid of the wall between the kitchen and current dining space and I would make this entire area, one big floating bench with seating / stools you could even continue to shape to form a corner so you had additional storage underneath but open up the space so the view through is not blocked. I was also looking at the family room and living rooms, I would swap them over and some how make the entry front door more of a directional space but still allow it to be it's own space so you can store shoes, coats bags etc, without walking straight in to the living room(s). What ever you do, remember it is cheaper not to move plumbing and I think the kitchen is in a good space....See MoreOdd shape kitchen living dining area
Comments (12)I would build a sleek new TV cabinet to match your new kitchen cabinetwork along the full length of the wall under the air conditioner, which will visualy extend the space and make the kitchen and living area seem more integrated. Move the couch to the other side of the room, and have it about one metre off the study wall so that you can walk between the back of the couch and the study wall, which becomes a circulation space. If you have room add an open sided bookcase/room divider opposite the front door to give more definition to the entry and more seperation to the living area. Add a couple of pedestal based armchairs in the space between the new TV cabinetwork and couch, which can be moved and rotated around easily, with a large rug to anchor the living area. Comments (9)Consider whether you need task lighting on the island bench. If you are using pendants they only have a limited space to be installed and only room for two- does this work for how you want to use the bench eg for food prep? The skylight will be a real feature during the day but not so much during the night. Another idea might be lights or pendants over the island and the skylight in the space between the dining and kitchen....See MoreDining space makeover help!
Comments (9)I have a very similar table. It also can fit 8 but I use as 6. I have the first chairs in your pic on my mood board for a future purchase. For a modern coastal look but built ins will be more traditional. I’m planning on using a light wood and will buy them with the white seat. I’ll probably recover the seats with a linen blend fabric in neutral for a custom look. The chairs are based on a Hans Wegner design so very timeless. Have what you love. I do suggest saving pics from here on Houzz and Pintrest to create moodboards that include existing furniture so that coordination of future purchases is easier....See Morekatiefur
