Hi Sam, I know where you're coming from, I too wanted to buy such a beautiful ornate table for my new home still under construction but it just wasn't going to look like it matched the modern home I wanted to put it in. I also wanted to feel like it could be used as most kitchen tables in a home are used, especially for me living on a farm, for eating or repairing something on some newspaper etc...impossible to do on such a beautiful table, you would ruin it to see it scratched !!! Not to put a damper on your tastes but your home will look so much better and have more style if you continue to try to match what you already have and that's at least a stunning kitchen that you've shown us all on this forum. If you think of the style and colour of your kitchen everytime you want to buy something or decorate, it will hep ground you to keep it similar. I understand there are people who say it's nice to have countless pieces of furniture that are all different in some way, as it can look like you acquired them along your journey in life but I think that this mixture of designs and colours doesn't gel in a modrrn house very well at all, perhaps a quaint old cottage but not a modern home with a lovely kitchen like you already have!!!

Wow Megan! Thanks so much for sharing, I love seeing these final pictures more than I like throwing my two cents in. Lol I love how your lounge feels now a part of your dining area, as if the two zones flow into each other, and everyone in that room will feel connected even while doing their own things. Great layout to entertain grown ups and children all at the same time. I also like that everything has a place, the children's cubes are fantastic, and even though they're not easily accessible in the lounge, it means they will all beaut away at the end of each day, giving you an adult space most of the time. Oz design have a sale on with a retro rmchair that would look amazing wi your chaise lounge, all colours, myself I love the orange, or baby blue, either way, these colours would relax the room with some colour, orange is right on trend, and styles well with toddler toys etc. it would really compliment your rug. As for your table, I think a white plastic chair, like a panton or an eames which are everywhere due to popularity, and a great quality timber table. I'd search gumtree for that, and b your chairs anywhere. Actually, aldi has the eames table and chairs, the Eiffel ones with wire struts and timber legs, a solid white top and table is found for 199. Would fit nicely and suit the style. Also, as your children become older, you can opt for something a little more precious later, and live for now. Love it all! I'm so thrilled it worked out for you, and really impressed that you went through and tried it even wi hesitation. That's why I love moving things around, it can really change the whole feeling or use of a space, for free!

I would pop a buffet along the window by the front door & then a rectangle dining table in front of that. There are a few layouts you could do tv/ lounge wise but in the interest of entertaining & also watching tv whilst preparing meals.... I would put the tv on the wall opposite the built in cupboards - not right where the aerial point is though, closer along the wall towards the bedroom door. Then I'd have an L shape configuration of lounges (either a corner lounge or two lounges) with the back of one along the side wall (the wall you look at as you come in the front door), & the other with its back to the built in cupboards (obviously with enough room to open the doors behind it still. Then define the area with a rug etc

Hi, Pin down a builder? I would suggest you take the plans you have to a builder and get some feedback before you go much further. Builders are often your best ally when it comes to practical ways to achieve the design intent.... many is the time we have been asked to price a set of plans where the client has invested an inordinate amount of time and money on detail only to receive a rude shock when the reality hits the budget for all the detail desired.... cheers
