Comments (3)Well, as I LOVE that design in chrome - I am gung ho for matching them and would. If you don't add any more chrome accents, both would work well as it would be a base but not overkill. The white, chrome and wood would be an unusual but pleasant mix. For a carpet, without seeing anything and based on your style... this type of rug might work...See MoreHome office/spare room
Comments (13)One suggestion I'd make - shelves above a bed are very hard to reach, without standing on the bed. There are many beds though that fold up into a wall cabinet, so take up the thickness of a mattress/frame when folded up. It also makes for a tidier office when it's not a guest room. You may have to hunt for a fold-out that hinges on the long side - most are hinged on the short side (i.e. hinge under the pillow). If you can't find the right unit you might be able to swap with the shelves behind the door, or on the opposite far wall. You'd then have to rejig the other shelves you want above the bed, or move the bed unit the depth of the shelves out from the wall, or rotate it 90 degrees to parallel the wall to the credenza. I'm trying to work out exactly the same problem in my study as we speak :-) albeit with a different floorplan. Good luck!...See MoreWill adding in this office / utility detract from lounge room?
Comments (3)IF you were going to do that , I'd do the desk across the end , not 'sideways' -- that looks really narrow , especially if you want to lean back or similar . BUT I have a few worries -- it looks funny , you end up with a funny shaped lounge , you end up with a funny wall sticking out halfway along your entry , you achieve not much , you spend a decent whack , and you probably get a lower resale . How many people are living there , how many bedrooms are upstairs , how often do you use the family room , how often do you use the lounge ? Basically , can you put a desk in the family room , or that dog-leg in the lounge , or is there space upstairs ? How messy ? How confidential ? How distracting ? Only you know the answers to those , but your solution seems too much of a non-achievement for me ....See MoreVy
