I do love shutters myself. I'd love to hear from someone who has them in the bedroom. Do they do a good job of blocking light?

Yes they do. I have outdated cedar shutters , (full length in bedroom) but cannot bring ourselves to replace ( we did in other rooms) . The blades can be adjusted to let in little or no light.
The blades on mine are very narrow and broken, but still they stay, and still they work

@bigreader I love them full length in our bedroom! I feel like I'm waking up in a tropical resort every day. I feel grateful often when I open my eyes in the morning. I've answered my own question. Save up for plantation shutters throughout!

I think I am going back to curtains. Not for trend but I like fabrics for their softness and noise absorbing..I just like the look of them. I currently have white timber look blinds, will slowly replace ..they feel cold to me. The one window I have had curtains made for is my favourite.

Easier to keep clean as well. The dust and grime on blinds is never ending.

Hi Debbi, these are the only custom made curtains I have in this house currently ( next year is going to be a year of the curtain). They unclip and go straight into washing machine line dry then re hang. In my other rooms I will probably go for sheers as well but with colour or texture. It is just my preference, I just feel it adds a bit more to the room and decor. I am most excited in doing my small sitting room that is coming up as my favourite room, good luck with your decision..I have some spotlight ready to hangs in our bedroom, they have been a good temporary solution but I am sure some custom made ( block out ) curtains will be so much better when I get around to them. The spotlight window came up at about $200 for window including rails etc. self hung, softer drapes will be so much better

The wooden plantation shutters look great for your master bedroom, and offer a good level of privacy for the space.

If you are interested in replacing the other blinds around your home, you might want to consider some DIY options which also provide privacy and style to the room.

The variety of material options in these styles are good when considering bathrooms and kitchens, where the wood in plantation shutters might not wear as well.

@Wuff , I like you curtains, but if you replace them in the bedroom hang them high under the the cornice, they look much better and make your ceiling look taller, and maybe some soft velvet.

Hi Oskuee, definitely will hang from ceiling when we get the custom curtains in the year of the curtain 2017

I will be looking at soft fall curtains, velvet is so luxurious, our lounge will be on hit list as well, currently has the temporary spotlight treatment.. If all goes to plan with 2017 being my year of the curtain they would have done four years so would have been worth it
