renovate ugly letter box wall...house red/orange brick, brown pavers
Comments (8)I don't think that it is so much the wall that is the problem but the plants hanging over the wall. They are leaning on the wall and look as though they may be destabilising the whole wall to the point that it may fall over. If you removed all of the top heavy plants on the inside and then had a simple hedge that is a bit higher than the wall itself so that you get a solid green above the wall, then this green would break up the monotony of the wall. Keeping the weeds away from the base of the wall would also help, tho this is not too bad. You could paint the lattice but once you do this you have ongoing maintenance. You could paint it a bright, bold marine blue or yellow based red/orange, but as stated, the maintenance is then ongoing. I would look at the structure of the wall to ensure that it is stable before doing anything. Alison...See MoreHelp updating a tired spanish-style red/brown brick home
Comments (14)I have just painted lower level of my brick house monument also gutters. I love it & less maintenance also & you don't see the cobwebs or mould. I used it on the eaves of another home in a tropical location where mould was a problem & paint additives didn't work. I would do window frames & all timber surrounds white & Gge & front doors a soft taupe. For internal walls in rental situations for the last 20 years I have used ' foxtail 1/2 strength' it is a warm grey & with white timber work it looks very modern & crisp. Before & after pics of exterior...See More1960s BRICK HOME - Front Door

I took notice this morning and it would be a shame to lose it. I did attempt to paint and tidy up the door a few weeks back but I feel like the colour is all wrong. It’s not bright enough. And I think I’ll have the glass replaced and frosted. Thanks lots of great ideas to work with here...See MoreExterior help for contemporary brown brick home
Comments (12)I assume you live there ? Walk outside and stand on the street haha . The house to the left seems to have similar bricks to yours , and looks to have off-white fascia , and it looks about right from the small bite we can see . The house to the right seems to be white walls , and black fascia and roof , again looks about right . With dark fences and walls etc , and extending that slightly with charcoal gutters , I don't think you want it all dark -- at present I think its too light coloured , so just go a step at a time -- the fence and the gutter would be step one , then you'll see if the fascia doesn't look right , or whether the column is too white or the garden is too closed in -- basically , move slowly and look before each step ....See Morehaephestus
