Has anyone used a dado finish for walls/floor in the bathroom?
Comments (1)Hi there, For your reference, I will attach a link to a discussion on the technical benefits of using porcelain tiles in place of polished concrete finishes. Although you may really, really want to use this technique or polished concrete, it would be worth a read, as if these finishes aren't installed perfectly you will no doubt find that common issues with concrete finishes may occur. I will also attach a couple of images to show you some of the concrete-style tiles available from us, as the designs are incredibly similar in look and feel to concrete materials, with huge technical advantages. Best of luck with the project! Comments (9)We recently made over a bathroom with dated features & a claw foot bath. See before & after pics. The bath was almond beige with brass feet. Painted it Dulux Ticking on the outside & used Rustoleum Tub & Tile on the inside. Bit of a process but we're very happy with the result. We were able to take the bath out of the room to paint so this made it easier. Left it to "cure" for quite a while before reinstalling & using. Sprayed the feet with chrome paint. The cabinet in after pic is the same cab as before, but with laminate benchtop removed & new wooden top & sides, benchtop basin, new tap. Treated the benchtop with 5 coats of marine grade polyurethane & painted the cabinet drawer fronts & doors with same paint as the bath (oil based). Floor retiled (over existing tile), double hung window removed and replaced with a fixed frame & frosted glass. Most expensive part was the new glass shower screen. My advice is to take the time to do correct prep & leave surfaces to harden thoroughly before using. With the bath I never run the hot tap first into the bath ie. warm water first then hot & only clean with detergent & a soft cloth, don't use any abrasive or harsh cleaners....See MoreLooking to Renovate your Bathroom? Comments (6)depending on the size of the existing vanity it should be possible to have a similar new vanity or a custom unit made to replace the original but a chat with a plumber should be arranged to recommend suitable options and plan a schedule to remove the old and install the new, including any necessary waterproofing or tile repairs..btw careful removal could allow the original sink, taps and even the counter to be saved and recycled into a new vanity that matches the bathroom perfectly with the added option of being able to add different doors or drawers to the cabinet...See Moremacyjean
