White or black benchtops?- I can't decide!
Comments (14)Hi Petapea, With the colours you already have in the kitchen, a white ‘marble look’ caesarstone that has texture, streaking or specking in it would suit very well. You wouldn’t want to go with one that is predominately white; it might make the room look too clinical. Regarding marble instead of caesarstone, definitely be careful, marble WILL stain from coffee, red wine, acidic foods (tomatoes, lemons) etc. despite sealing, which is fine if you’re happy for a seasoned look, but if you want a clean unmarked surface, stick with the caesarstone. If you wanted to make the kitchen stand out even more and it was in your budget, you could also consider matte black cupboard handles – this would look good with either type of bench top, or painting the door to the kitchen black. Hope this helps!...See MoreWhich white should we choose?
Comments (83)Hi HU-648755060 A couple of questions for you. Do you have any floorplans or other details as well? A lot of people say Hampton's Style but that in itself can vary greatly between people. What you have picked out so far all sounds pretty good. I would look at a darker stain, like an espresso for the flooring. The darker automatically adds a feeling of understated luxe. I assume you are doing larger architraves, crown mouldings and skirts and these are painted white? Are you doing a grey grout on the splashback? For a more modern/industrial twist, look for a concrete finish to your kitchen benches. Remember that the concrete looks can be rather patterned so look at full slab pictures before choosing. If you go down this path I would keep all of them the same, vanities, laundry benchtops and kitchen benchtops. Otherwise you could look at a dramatic marble look such as Smartsone Blanco Molassa for the island and then a pared back white, for the other benchtops throughout the house. I hope this helps....See MoreWhite Interior Colour-Help
Comments (11)Hi annabelle630, Congratulations on designing your new kitchen! You mentioned Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo may be throwing off a deep white (almost blue) colour compared to Quantam Statuario. Maybe, consider these two colours also: Statuario Maximus (much whiter, deeper veins) http://caesarstone.com.au/colour/5031-statuario-maximus Calacatta Nuvo (much whiter, lighter veins) http://caesarstone.com.au/colour/5131-calacatta-nuvo Any questions please don't hesitate to reach out! Comments (22)Hi Alex and Christie, I am installing a kitchen this week using a product I have used before and that I really like. It's Mirostone - a 100% acrylic product which feels and looks just like the reconstituted stone - it even feels cold like stone - yet it's much cheaper than any reconstituted stone I have found. Being 100% acrylic it's not porous which also means it's very hygienic. It's resilient to marks and staining so will be good for rolling out pastry dough. However, it should be treated with care like any benchtop and a chopping board or hot surface board used when required. Marks and stains can be easily sand-papered away - that's right, sandpaper - but because the stone colour goes through to the base, you aren't left with a discoloured patch. It only comes in 7 colours from white to grey, but it's a really nice product. I believe it is available Australia-wide from the distributors in Adelaide (where I am based). Good luck. Cheers, Penelope...See Morepjs33
