Tell us: How do you store your pots?
Comments (11)I have an iron pot holder hanging from the ceiling, I don't hang my pots because they don't have holes in the handles and are way too expensive to drill into. I hang baskets and utensils, plus a few vintage copper pieces like jugs I sometimes use for flowers, and a vintage copper colander. I use the baskets to harvest produce and flowers from the garden. I have a vintage kitchen with not many drawers, have had to be creative about utensil storage....See MoreDoes the space you have dictate the style you use?
Comments (9)Suzineedsahouse, what is the era or character of the house you have moved into, because perhaps that will influence design style regardless of size? Also, if you have been knocking out walls is it likely to be more open plan?? I moved from a small 1960's era granny flat into an as-small Art Deco 1940's apartment and found I went with more classic furniture with the second place because it just suited the aesthetic of high ceilings, floorboards, wide skirting boards, fireplace, ceiling roses etc. Having said that, I live in a block of 6 apartments, and I have seen the other apartments decked out completely differently (all of similar layout), from really modern, to mid-century, also one with a real retro art vibe, and they all looked great and seemed to suit the space fine. So maybe go with your taste in the end??...See MoreWhat would you do with this garden space?
Comments (4)Wow what a great space to work with - the options are endless and it really depends on your budget. Some ideas:- - paint all the fences to give the area a lift - could also consider putting horizontal timber boards (a bit like decking not sure what you call them) along the fence under the pergola as a feature with a couple of pot plants in front of it or a vertical garden - remove the Hills Hoist and put a large fold down clothesline along one of the fences to open up the area - consider replacing concrete with some pavers if you have the budget and then remove some of the concrete so that you can open up the space with more lawn - plant screening trees along the fence lines to add some more green and keep the space nice and open - in the covered area, the above suggestion is ideal - if you need more light you could consider some transparent sheeting in the roof of the pergola Just some ideas but of course it all comes down to your budget and taste....See MoreHow do we make our small side garden feel bigger?
Comments (5)I would do a path along side of house and to the back flat and continue at back of house, extend the paving as wide as possible to give the illusion of more space, or stagger the paving to trick the eye into thinking of more space also, mass planting for a lush look, check Bunnings for a/c covers, remove large conifer and bring in new soil, viburnum will give a privacy hedge to screen flat or erect a simple structure to add interest at end of path, raphiolepis ‘snow maiden’ has great foliage , check that deck is stable, use a stone mulch for water saving and to keep weeds down, and a watering system for use when needed....See MoreAndy Watson
