Hi Kirsty, could you please advise the colour of your vanity and whether it is a custom made one and if not, could you let me know its name and where you bought it. Also, what is the colour of your floors tiles and where did you get them from. (I have come to the conclusion that charcoal/dark grey tile plus a much lighter grey tile plus white on some walls plus a timber vanity or timber accessories in bathroom , plus white (or close to it) below sink counter top is the way to go for a beautiful bathroom. The trick is figuring out exactly what proportion of each colour to use and where to put them for each particular layout.

Thank you for letting me know about this detail, because I was seriously thinking of doing it this way myself. In terms of your bathroom, I wonder if a very neat bead of silicone on the top only - of the join between the glass and the vanity - could help? This way the underneath is still fee to breathe and not gather gunk. But I guess then you don't get that lovely clean glass feeling from inside the shower.....

If you do it stop it at vanity height. However, I’d do all horizontal plank tiles to match vanity planks and keep it simple to let the lovely vanity shine.

Hi Sharon, Although it will look great and is a good solution for adults, it might be difficult for children to use the mirrors if they are installed higher as per the comments. Flipping the cabinet may be an option that will not cost any more money or time, great problem solving! Before installing, ensure that the cabinet shelves will work upside-down, and that the doors can easily be opened from the underside. Could you share some photos when its complete for the community? It might help someone else who stumbles on this discussion. Some other alternatives for anyone else who encounters a similar issue: -Return and exchange for a mirror cabinet that doesn’t have the open shelf. -Return and exchange the tap for the shortest option that can still work with the basin so that the cabinet can be lowered. -Return and exchange the vanity so that it has an undermounted basin so that a lower tap could be used. -Recess the cabinet into the wall and lower the cabinet so that the open shelf may overlap behind the tap, still allowing the doors to still freely open over the tap. -Get a quote for a cabinet maker to install new doors with mirrors so that the open shelf will be hidden but the mirrors are lower. -Use a step stool for children that can tuck away underneath the wall hung vanity.
